**DOUBLE-TAKE INDUCING HEADPHONE WARNING**

I was feeling great after Episode 9; all the dots connected, everything made sense...then this episode happened.

We FINALLY get a look into Eren's character and how he was two years ago, which is QUITE a contrast for how he is now, and everyone's noticing! What caused this change? We don't know yet. Historia's pregnant! What is the deal with her and the farmhand though? Is he REALLY the father? We don't know yet. Please don't confirm or deconfirm my baby daddy theories, haha!!

But also...WHAT IS ZEKE'S SECRET PLAN AND WHEN IS THIS TENSION COMING TO A HEAD?! We. Don't. Know. Yet.

What I do know is I may have to re-watch every episode from here on in before going to the next (or maybe before the discussion even)...and that nothing is quite as it seems. Isayama, you're not playing, are you?

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

Ohh Romania, I see your last ditch effort to cope with the seemingly last healthy ship in the show is about to sink.

*Ricky Bobby voice* Don't you put this evil on me! LET ME THEORIZE! No confirming or deconfirming, darn it! 🤣😂 I'm kidding -- but seriously, show, let me have this one thing -- hahahaha! 🤣 My sanity needs it.

Hi Romania, I just wanted to point that the whole railroad car scene with the sunset was 1 year ago, because Eren said he has 5 years left and as in present he is 4 yrs from the end of his ´term’ ☺️😁

Oh boy the father debate. I have been waiting for you to get to this point of the story.

romaniablack

My thoughts have developed since watching a few more episodes, but still....one of the more intriguing plot choices Isayama has made...hooo boy. Thanks for the comment! ^^

Holy cow...well......hmmm....THANK YOU for telling me that! That's going to change up some of my theorizing in a future reaction! I appreciate that clarification!

“To save Mikasa, Armin and everyone else, you must see this through” - 3x21 These are the words to hang on to during this dark time. It certainly was for me when I was reading all this for the first time years ago. I think you are exactly right when you agree with Mikasa’s words that Eren ‘cares too much’. Eren during the post timeskip period that we are in now doesn’t make me afraid of him, or frustrated at him. It makes me feel soo sad for him. Also 104th all blushing at each other will never not make me smile and cry simultaneously. Mikasa and Eren’s big blushing glances at each other also make me wanna cry. Goddamn you Isayama! About Historia’s pregnancy. I wanna clarify that I’m only going to write about surface level stuff here. I love this series and I love Isayama as a story teller but there are plenty of things that I have issues with when it comes to his story. One big one is this. I can not stand this type of storyline and trope. You see this all the time, particularly in science fiction and fantasy stories. When you get to the endgame a female character will always have to become pregnant and that’s their plot point. Now Historia has never been one of my favourite characters. I neither hate or love her but I remember getting this part of the story and just being let disappointed. Now people are free to disagree with me on this point but it’s a trope that makes me soo tired. Few notes We DO see in his head outside of fighting. Classic example of this is his inner monologue in 3x9. It’s interesting that you feel a disconnect with Eren. I can understand with post timeskip but pre timeskip I think we are very much in touch with Eren and his emotions and feelings. Eren is a simple character at his core. Again like I wrote with last episode it may change with rewatch or read through but .. 🤷‍♀️ (your comments at the train scene … this isn’t the first time that he’s expressed care for them but what I do agree on is that it’s the biggest deceleration of his feelings for all of them) Eren’s quote to Hange at the end of their scene is a miss translation. It’s more “if there’s another way then tell me what it is!” It’s much more desperate like Eren is ACTUALLY asking Hange to figure something else out. 1:32:10 Slightly wrong. We know that the scouts were in Marley as Eren sent them letters while he was in Liberio. I don’t imagine Marley had a postal service direct to Paradis Island 😄 I won’t confirm or deny if Eren went with the scouts to Marley to infiltrate and then ran off or Eren went to Marley alone and the scouts followed but we know they were both there. And we don’t know yet which one of these options happened yet. Mikasa absolutely does know about Eren’s hysteria laugh in 2x12 but I believe the reason she doesn’t say anything here is the term ‘laugh’ is a loose one and she has no context for his reaction to Sasha’s death as she wasn’t there. What he did in 2x12 was a full mental breakdown. So she can only take what Connie says as face value. ‘He laughed AT Sasha’s death’. Which we as the audience of course know that ain’t true.

If some comments are hindering your viewing experience including here on Patreon, take a break if you need it. I appreciate you answering every comment it's nice to have that connection with you as a creator & express our love/hate/sadness in Anime & you make that a safe space for us to do so but if you want to take a break from the comments because people are giving you hints I completely understand & fully support it if you need to. I know watching ahead can only do so much.

Armin & Sasha running in the background kills me everytime lol Armin's just chasin Sasha like why?!😂I miss them being like this. The reveal of Historia Pregnant saddens me so much. She looks so miserable & yes she agreed to be queen & knew she'd have to make these sacrifices such as having a kid but this is not what precious Ymir wanted for her. She wanted her to live her life freely & Historia just looks so dead inside😭 She made this choice freely but this situation isn't freedom at all. That promise her & Ymir made is slowly breaking. The scene of Eren telling his friends/family that he cares about them & wants them to have long lives ugghhhh😭💕Such a beautiful scene. Favorite of this season. They didn't know how to react with that confession lol blushy faces. Mikasa being royalty & Historia fangirling over having Mikasa as her ally☺️ (Literally me) & Eren's smile. The whole fandom was like OMG HE SMILED!! WE NEEDED THAT!!😂I saw it more as him smiling over Mikasa & Historia bonding especially with Mikasa being embarrassed & Historia's excitement with the reveal. I didn't really see Eren smiling at JUST Historia in that moment but I get it you ship them. It was a nice light moment compared to the heaviness of there reality & revealing Zeke's plan saying that they need to breed🤮I love Hange's comment on should we push that on our people just to save ourselves now like that's such a good observation. This show continuously shows the cost of putting that burden on others especially with our crew growing up in this war & the kids being Titans. The endless cycle. The scene of Hange asking Eren about him saying Fight/Tatakae is so terrifying but so funny because back in Season 3 when he was in the cell getting Grisha's memories, Hange was asking him what his deal was when he said "The Attack Titan" (With Kruger's Pose in the memory) & she kept saying why are you talking to yourself then Eren screamed saying "WHAT DID YOU COME HERE FOR?!" Hange just knows how to annoy him & try to get that information out but Eren constantly tries to ignore her lol the scene in the present is like a replay of that scene only way more serious because he questions there role in this war as commander, acknowledges that he's basically OP & can leave when he wants to. In the past Levi says it's a phase & in this scene Hange plays it off as a phase as well but they are really shaken up by it. Poor Hange. I don't like Hange questioning there role as Commander & Erwin's decision. I get it tho. It's too much going on. Conny & Jean questioning Eren, Mikasa hanging onto hope & Armin in the middle hopeful but is like we will do what's necessary if it comes to it. We all know they don't want to think like this. They are heartbroken over losing Sasha as well as there friend Eren being a mystery in all this. So yes welcome to Season 4 part 1 where we question everyone's motives & perspectives which is literally every season tbh lol but now it's with Eren which makes this so much harder.

romaniablack

Oh, it's okay! I really appreciate your kindness and literally everyone has been SO good in the comment section here and on YouTube (even if we don't agree, hahaha) -- I've watched some shows on YT and the comment section is a literal war zone, so I'm very lucky! Plus, you all give me so many extra things to think about that add to the story and the experience of it...I definitely want to include that. :)

The Weird Pianist

Wit Studio has been criticized for changing the brand to embroidery and now Mappa was forced to put it back in the anime. It seemed like it came out of nowhere and that's why I told you that Mikasa was supposed to have a symbol on her arm. About Iceburst Stone. There is a light novel spin-off called Attack on Titan: Before the Fall, which was later adapted into manga. That's where Iceburst Stone was introduced. Both the light novels and especially the manga are terrible in my opinion. There're huge inconsistencies and the writing just sucks. It's about how the 3D maneuvering gear was invented 70 years ago. It introduced Iceburst Stone and Iron Bamboo. If you're curious keep reading but it's not huge spoilers. Iceburst Stone was found in a cold cave. It looked like an underground lake but turned out to be frozen gas that could be used as fuel when set on fire and it turned into gaseous state in normal temperatures (large chunks would explode, hence the name). Iron Bamboo was found in a nearby forest. It was a bamboo that looked metallic because it had probably absorbed unknown rare metals which were underground. It was used to make really strong and lightweight metal that was used in the swords. Pretty sure both of those things are impossible in real life but it's cool that Isayama mentioned it in his manga. There's another spin-off called Attack on Titan: Harsh Mistress of the City. It's about what happened to other cities protruding from Wall Maria. Shiganshina was overrun by titans but the other three (or at least one of them) were closed off. This one's worth reading I guess but it's not much better than the other one. There's also an American novel called Garrison Girl but this one is also pretty bad. Btw, I've seen people telling you to watch the new OP or to not watch it. I was originally gonna tell you to watch it but there are way too many spoilers that are gonna end up ruining Part 2 for you so I say don't watch it even though I think that it's the best one. Don't even make a poll and don't listen to it either. I'll tell you when it's fine to see it. It's better to go in completely blind like the manga readers did. You should probably watch the Part 1 trailer though during the recap. If you do make sure you watch it in an incognito window. It teases Part 2 towards the end but it's just minor spoilers shown super fast. I'll send it to you if you want so you don't accidentally see Part 2 trailer thumbnails.

Be Happy

Hi , I told Romania that she could watch the part 2 OP starting episode 22, because in my opinion it is safer at that point, the rest are minor spoilers that are hugely expected at this point.

I like that Isayama gives us just a touch of comedy with Armin and Sasha...ah, the good times, right? That entire scene of Eren wanting them to live long lives...UGH...I hate how wholesome it is, clashing with the reality of this all, now. I hate what has happened with Historia, and you make such a good point -- it's connected to Eren, oddly enough, and his choices he's made freely and how they've impacted his "freedom" (I'll have to bring that up). But I hate seeing her look so devastated...Ymir would hate this for her, indeed. I do admit that Eren was probably smiling at both Mikasa AND Historia getting along...my shipper goggles were definitely on in this episode. And yessss, the "questioning of everyone' has always been in this series, but when it involves our main character...then it goes to a new level. Ugh...My heart has HURT this season. We're not playing games now, are we? T_T Thank you for the comment!

romaniablack

Damn, y’all have made me re-think and re-evaluate (well, your comments and watching the next few episodes) so much…I’m probably going to need to do ANOTHER mini-recap by Episode 13, haha! That line from Grisha/Kruger to Eren, though….hm….ugh. *holds head in hands* I do agree with you 10000% about the Pregnancy trope and its involvement of Historia, here. I have loved her character and feel once she became queen, her involvement in the plot (or at least so far) has just been relegated to that…I have more thoughts on that since having sat on this episode a bit, that I’ll bring up later…and in the recap. Yes, I do agree in seasons 1-3, we see in Eren’s head (it’s less so in season2), but so far this season, we just haven’t gotten much or what I’m used to…I do feel sad for him, and still disconnected to a point in the post-timeskip (so far). And thank you! Some others also commented on this translation error and I really connect more with Eren being DESPERATE here than just threatening Hange. I hope that’s the case! And that makes sense that the scouts were in Marley – I was thinking out loud there. I definitely need to know more, but I’ll wait until we find out, hahaha! The idea of a postal pidgeon taking letters to Paradis is a fun concept, though, right? 😊 And yes, I hate that Connie has it confused, that he thinks Eren was laughing AT Sasha when we know that is anything but the case. For as confusing as Eren’s silence has been this season, that was one part in Episode 8 I got – that he was mad, grieving, and frustrated at Sasha’s death – it was a much more bitter, mature version of the breakdown we saw in 2x12. Thank you for the comment!! This season…it’s not been well for my heart, I can say that. ☹

If we go with your theorie that Eren is the one that got Historia pregnant. Why would Hanji say that he sacrifices her? Isn't that helping Historia stay alive? Maybe my brain is just too mushed and we got that answered and I forgot. XD Historia looks so miserabel everytime we see her in the present, it makes me really sad to see her like that. I love Connie's line about that Jean is too important to have such a short life. That was sweet and he's right about that. I'm sure Eren is grieving over Sascha, especially since we know he laughed before after losing someone he cares about, but Connie doesn't know it. I'm really wondering why Mikasa didn't say anything about that. But I agree with Jean and Connie here, they shouldn't be too naive and fully trust Eren after what he just did. Wish you a wonderful day!!

romaniablack

After watching the next few episodes, it makes sense that Eren is not the dad...but I still feel sorry for both him and especially Historia...with Hange's conversation, I took it as they were disappointed that Eren was attacking Marley and putting Paradis in more danger, but the sacrifice line makes that more unlikely...so..."brain melt" indeed! And Connie sticking up for Jean, that WAS sweet! :3 Our chaos trio! And yes, I am sure that Eren is grieving over Sasha, Connie just doesn't realize it -- but also, they're right, too -- Eren did lead a major attack that caused deaths that our 104th crew here were not supportive of...they can't afford to be naive at this point. I just hate that it's this way right now. :( Thanks for the comment and have a great day, too!
