My Fukuzawa x Mori ship is SAILING, y'all, and the shipping in this series is apparently passed down from generation to generation, haha, with the Captain of the Ships being none other than Natsume-sensei, himself!   

It's the penultimate episode of the season, and we have twists, backstory, and some Shin Soukoku goodness...but...hoo..that cliffhanger. I'm not ready for the season to end!

The only thing I’m able to pronounce, while looking at Fukuzawa and Mori is “omfg,. enemies to lovers old gay people yes”…

2021-11-21 20:30:13 probably my fav episode tbh. <3 Fukuzawa x Mori is totally the best ship. I just can't stop thinking about those two leaving work by the end of their workday and going to the same apartment to do all sorts of domestic stuff. This is totally the headcanon that came to me one night I was reading fukuzawa x more fanfics. (too little fanfics, gotta make a do with my imagination) But like those two are so professional at the jobs that when the day ends and they leave their work skin to their job, they could totally be going to the same house to sit on the same couch. also about when Dazai was like talking of Natsume at the start, pretty much talking of how cool Natsume's ability is, and then it hits like: "I'm a cat" and all I can think is that Natsume totally having an ability just literally just him turning into a cat, but then the RUMORS and GOSSIP are the reason people think he got some otherworldly OP power. LOL. loved this reaction, just like all the other ones as well <3

Mori and Fukuzawa give divorced couple vibes, and Mori is still bitter about losing custody of Dazai in said divorce. I still absolutely ship them, but that situation just makes sense. It was kinda explained why Natsume blew up the house, but not very well. Basically, he blew it up so that any spies Fyodor did have wouldn't know if Mori and Fukuzawa were alive or not, so Fyodor wouldn't be able to run and escape the organisations. Pushkin is actually one of the few in this series I've not read, or even have a copy of the book. Usually when it comes to playwrites and poets, I will read them (my book of Chuuya poems with many sticky tabs can attest), but I had been so wrapped up in trying to get other books that I've not gotten to his. But Feast in Time of Plauge is a play that concerns someone taunting death, and is from the 1830s. Akutagawa calling Atsushi by his name? Don't hold your breath. Really don't. Just enjoy them as they are now. Before season 4 possibly throws it all away. It's going to be a mean season. Next episode is going to be one hell of a finale, and I can't wait for it. It's been one hell of a ride.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but IIRC the reason Elise manifests as a little girl is because the real Mori Ougai was allegedly a pedophile.

Atsushi: Capable of blitzing past dozens of guards and cameras to get into the base unnoticed. Also Atsushi: Can't catch up to a pudgy man running away on foot.

Natsume has been around this entire time! I love that little plot twist but it has been hinted at, back when Dazai called the cat "sensei" during the dark age arc. I hope we see Natsume some more in the future. The rivalry/friendship between Fukuzawa and Mori is definitely passed down, Dazai and Chuuya and now Atsushi and Akutagawa! These are the best duos, how can you not ship them? The ships write themselves.

Lots of people think that Mori’s character is a pedophile, but so far as I’ve ever heard or been able to find out that has nothing to do with the actual author. I haven’t even seen people who feel strongly about interpreting Mori’s character that way accuse the IRL author of it. I’m probably gonna read Vitas Sexualis soon just to see if I can make some sense out of what the reasons may be. Mori is one of my favorite characters and I don’t think he’s a pedophile, but I understand the people who do. But not the author.

You don’t need to wait on anything to look up Natsume-sensei. When Dazai said that his ability allows him to see through anything, I just take that as being that people don’t censor themselves just because there’s a cat around. Just think of all the scenes where we’ve had that cat in the background taking everything in. “Arahabaki… is ME!” Cat’s just sitting in the corner. One example. Amazing in its simplicity. Natsume the original shipper indeed. He’s the one who said “only a diamond can polish a diamond.” And Mori was supposedly testing the concept out with Dazai and Chuuya. It didn’t Natsume already test it out with him and Fukuzawa? And now Dazai is doing it with Atsushi and Aku. Putting these pairs together causes a lot of friction, but they grow in the process. Aku is growing. And it I can’t help but notice the way he keeps trying to understand Atsushi. It’s interesting. And when I saw that sardine, I thought back to ep 21 where Fukuzawa was trying to lure a random cat with a sardine and it just ignored him. Is this why he’s such a cat person XD Did he sense it on some subconscious level or something? I don’t know. And I looked up Fukuzawa’s nickname. It’s 銀狼 (ginrou) Silver Wolf.

I don’t think theres any need for “interpreting” whether BSD Mori diddles kids or not when it’s pretty obvious that that’s what he’s into. He openly admits to it in several scenes. I’m pretty sure he even tells Koyou that his target range is girls under 12.

RIGHT?! I didn't even THINK about how Dazai called him "sensei!" Ahhh, the Mori/Dazai connections continue! :) I really want to see more of Natsume in the future, as well! And yesssss, the enemies-to-lover tropes go from generation to generation in this show and I love it! The ships sail themselves, no? :) :)

Fukuzawa x Mori is my jam -- I love that BSD is basically a giant "enemies-to-lovers" flagship and I'm here for it. I'm glad that once I'm caught up, I can at least start reading some fan fiction and seeing fan art! :D All the domestic headcanons! :) An seriously...Natsume being the cat is jut amazing. OMG, I'm with @Julie -- the Divorced Couple that's Trying to Get Back Together Even Though They Don't Realize It vibes are so there. And Dazai as the kid caught in the middle of it all...I guess that makes Natsume the crazy Uncle that still ships them. Fitting. Ahhh, that makes a bit more sense about Natsume blowing up the house. I'm SOOO excited, too, to get to reading the works of some of these people, especially Dazai and Mori! :) And Chuuya's poems! Hahaha, and yeahhhh, it's on my wish list for Akutagawa to call Atsushi by his name...but....ha ha ha *nervous laugh* Season 4....really anxious now that y'all are hinting at it. But YES! It's been a crazy ride and I'm bittersweet, but excited for the finale and season 4, too!

@Polygon, when I researched Mori, I didn't see anything about him being a pedophile -- Elise from what I know is a character in his short story, "The Dancing Girl." However, you're right that in the show he has creepily said that he "likes girls under 12," to which Kouyou threatens to silence his tongue. I figured it was a creepy aspect of his character and connection to Elise. At least we haven't seen him do anything harmful to Kyouka.

Ahhhh, good to know! I researched (lightly) Natsume for the season finale, so that's exciting! Yeah, all the crumbs were there...it's relieving to finally piece it together! :) And YES! Natsume the Ship Captain! Enemies to lovers, indeed. :) And Akutagawa developing as a character alongside Atsushi; we love to see it! And I thought about Fukuzawa with the sardine, too! Maybe he was trying to find Natsume, back then? I'm at least glad to get confirmation that it's Silver Wolf for Fukuzawa! Thanks for that! :D

Since you started shipping Mori and Fukuzawa I was like "just you wait." Knew you would enjoy this episode. Mori really embraced his love for Fukuzawa. The flirting. All the generations of shipping. XD Seeing Akutagawa quietly agree with Atsushi just shows how much the words hurted him. This is the season I really started to love him. His slow character development. How we see that there are people he cares about. I'm really excited to see how Akutagawa evolves in the next season. Wish you a wonderful day!!
