Ah yes, the massive cloud of misunderstanding, the true antagonist of this story 😋 We’re so close to stuff the donghua hasn’t covered yet and I’m so hyped for it! I can understand your struggle not to read ahead. I wish you strength to persevere 🫡 I enjoyed the bit of the discussion where you talked about the 4 act vs 3 act structure. Despite having consumed a good amount of anime I never really noticed that difference; I’ll have to be on the lookout for it in the future. Also really enjoying the speculation for how all this could go. MXTX really does a good job of keeping us on our toes with this one Thanks for the video!

Thank you for getting "Carry On My Wayward Son" Grandpa version stuck in my head 🤣 Stallion novel is definitely, in my opinion, more catered towards the male gaze. I don't know what the Chinese version would be, but in Japanese media I'd say otome games would be the opposite of that, being more catered towards the female gaze and many of which are reverse harem. Just with stallion novels and/or harem media there does seem to be a tendency for the numbers within the harem to sometimes be quite high, especially in comparison to reverse harem (most I've read was five guys and one woman, and that was in a Western fantasy novel). Reverse harem is a genre I do like in my fictional world on occasion but in reality my thoughts more align with "Being in a relationship with one person is hard enough, nevermind adding multiple partners" 😆 With the effort and care Luo Binghe puts into his cooking I always think of it as being a part of his love language. Makes me relate to him a lot 🥺 Love Luo Binghe returning and having more confidence in himself, and his relationship with his Shizun, to be able to tease Shen Qingqiu. I died at you saying "'Shen Qingqiu wasn't good at riding.' Yet!!!" 🤣 Once again the first thing Shen Qingqiu notices about a female character sets off the non-heterosexual alert in my head 😂 The heterosexual males in my life don't even notice when I get my haircut, never mind if I get my eyebrows done. Eyebrows are definitely not a feature I know any of them to be first drawn to 😆 Liu Qingge is not here to see what could be seen as PDA between Luo Binghe and Shen Qingqiu 😂 Only because of how oblivious Shen Qingqiu is does he not see how flirtatious that interaction of getting snacks from Luo Binghe was. The novel is definitely more glaringly obvious about Luo Binghe being jealous about Shen Qingqiu's gaze being on Liu Mingyan. And, in turn, it heightens the second hand embarrassment you feel about Shen Qingqiu not getting it. at. all. For me, I feel like the difference in obliviousness between our three protagonists is: Wei Wuxian's obliviousness came from a place of self-deprecation. The great Hanguang-Jun, Lan Wangji, one of the Twin Jades of Gusu Lan, was on such a high pedestal whilst Wei Wuxian saw himself at the bottom of the totem pole. Xie Lian's obliviousness comes more from a lack of education and understanding about sexuality and feelings, mostly due to the requirements of his form of Cultivation. But I feel like Hua Cheng's lack of self-worth also has an effect on Xie Lian being able to understand his own feelings as well as Hua Cheng's. Shen Qingqiu, however, is a die hard otaku fanboy whose only apparent focus is self-preservation to the detriment of realising and understanding exactly how the original plot is changing on him. Was not expecting the monsterf***er comment!!! 🤣 My brain definitely stuttered a little over some of those names when reading it. A lot of them are a little harder on the Western tongue, mostly because we're used to certain consonants being pronounced a certain way and try to re-wire your brain to pronounce them a different way is on the tricky side. Nuts to think Volume 1 will be finished soon. Time is definitely going by way too fast 😆

RIGHT?! The Misunderstanding trope is one of my least favorites – I’m hopeful SQQ and LBH can overcome it, though! I am SO SO SO hyped for the new material – it has been hard to not read ahead too much! Because I truly feel like I’m going into the new content BLIND, and I cannot wait! I love how stories are structured and once you know, it starts to really help you frame how an “arc” or story is going and makes it more exciting and better to digest, for me, anyway. So thank you for the kind words and comment! MXTX is amazing and I love her writing, and seeing her in her “rawest” form with SVSSS is so fun!

Hahaha, that song is an ear worm, so I apologize for it getting lodged into your brain! I can SO see the male gaze being tied to the stallion novel, which makes sense for MXTX to satirize it and critique it in this story! I hear you though – I have nothing against polygamy, honestly, it’s just hard to write!! But who doesn’t like to multiship a polycule? I love that cooking is LBH’s love language! And his confidence growing, teasing SQQ, our LBH is growing up! Aww! I couldn’t help make a joke at SQQ’s expense, though; our oblivious peacock! I can say one heterosexual man noticed I got my hair done, but I had completely bleached it (and it looked terrible) so there was…reason for that. But yeah, otherwise, not noticed! Liu Qingge is just OVER the potential PDA – he’s like if Pei Ming was like Mu Qing, hahaha! Poor SQQ not realizing what everyone else around him is realizing! I feel for him! That’s a really good point about WWX’s Obliviousness being from self-deprecation, Xie Lian’s lack of understanding about sexuality and his own emotions due to his cultivation and abstinence, and HC having lack of self-worth as well – but then there’s SQQ who is this die hard otaku whose self-preservation keep shim from seeing the changes around him! *chef’s kiss* My brain is constantly rewritten in this series with all the Qing, Qiu, C-ts sounds, and repetitive names like “Huan Hua” or “Qi Qingqi” which we’re about to get to and MXTX, REALLY?! Hahaha, I feel she’s doing it on purpose, which is most likely. And YES – we’re nearly done with Volume 1 – this story feels it’s going to go by MUCH faster than the other MXTX stories, which I am sad about, but also I am about to be COMPLETELY BLIND as to what’s coming…so…..things are going to get interesting!
