Thanks for the reaction. The term "ripping [beep——]" is a rather vulgar internet slur and the [beep——] is the female genital organs (not in this academical way of saying it obviously) It's usually used to describe intense arguments or conflicts between two people or groups of people on the internet or in reality. This word carries some derogatory connotations and is usually used to describe a very intense process of arguing, with vulgar and sharp language, and often involving personal attacks. One often use this term on female (since they are the ones with the [beep——] ) but also on male as this has become more of a common term for heated and often nasty arguing process. I believe a male counterpart term for it would be 'tearing the d', well, you get the point. It's reasonable for the donghua team to change a bit of plotlines by having SQQ saving his disciples from demon attacks right after exiting the cave, so they can both have SQQ and LBH relationship progress and have the situation explained using the conversation of MF and SQQ so we don't have to watch SQQ monologuing the 'demon attact incident in the og novel' And they've fast forward the pace in donghua, SQQ was in the cave for months in the book and for an entire 3 years in donghua. So there's kinda a age difference for book!LBH who's around 14-15 and donghua!LBH who'd be around 17

Yeah, the donghua redistributes the time skips but still ends up resyncing with the novel shortly. Not really sure why. They still do another time passing montage and reunion scene where the book has the timeskip, but they already did it early. You don't really notice it, but it is slightly odd if you read the novel and know what it is supposed to be referencing.

Disciple A and Disciple B honestly made me think of Kugisaki in Season 1 of Jujutsu Kaisen 🥺 She called the two "delinquent" kids at the Middle School Fushiguro went to Idiot A and Idiot B. Felt very much in the same vein. Also nothing says irrelevant side character more than getting that as their designation instead of a name 😆 That moment with Shen Qingqiu being more concerned about Sha Hualing's comfort than how pretty she looks is definitely another big point for his sexuality. But I feel it could also show the age gap between them (Shen Qingqiu considering Sha Hualing as a child and himself as a responsible adult 😂). Shen Qingqiu's excitement over certain events (like the fight between Sha Hualing and Liu Mingyan) definitely show what a geek he is, but I feel like it also shows that as much as he disparages *Demon Way* he isn't a complete hater of the original work. Liu Mingyan being Shen Qingqiu's favourite in Luo Binghe's harem being further proof of his sexuality being anything but a typical heterosexual male. I can definitely see arguments for his sexuality being asexual due to one or the main reasons he likes her, but at the same time (to me) that argument negates asexuals who like to read and write more sexually explicit content as being "real" asexuals. I knew you'd appreciate the unlocking of the misunderstanding for Luo Binghe 😂 Was waiting for you to get to this moment (that sadly doesn't appear in the donghua) because you kept point out how Shen Qingqiu and Luo Binghe kept misunderstanding over another in the donghua. Shen Qingqiu is really one of *those* people with him throwing away the axe because it "doesn't fit his aesthetic" 🤣 Completely get what you mean about how this story makes you want to binge read. I hadn't read SVSSS until after it started being published with the official English translation and, unable to wait, I immediately dived into Volume 1 and then had to wait until the next volume was published, and so on 😅 Also reading from the book with those epically long chapters made it all the harder to put Volume 1 down.

Ahhh, I can so see the Kugisaki reference there! And yes, a number designation is the WORST nomenclature in a series! And YES, SQQ is such a gentleman – and a sign of him being an adult; that is such a great point! And that’s a great tie-in that he DOES like the original work to an extent; he’s just disappointed in parts of it, which is RELATABLE to me on certain shows I’ve watched (not this one, though, hahahaha)! I can SO see the SQQ asexual (or demisexual) agenda – which I will bring up in a future discussion as a patron pointed out – but I can also see him just being an obliviously gay peacock. I’m very excited to see where the story takes SQQ’s “awakening!” Also, the aesthetic for SQQ just makes his peacock attitude even more apparent! The Massive Fog of Misunderstandings – now THIS is a plot device that I’m curious to see how it will go as we continue through the series! Oohhhhh, that is ROUGH having to wait for the volumes to be released – I can RELATE, hahaha, but I’m excited to not have had that issue with an MXTX work – that would have been awful, so I feel for you! And yes, the urge to binge is hard to resist! Thank you for the comment and kind words!
