Skinner Demon is definitely your stereotypical villainous character that has to have a villain's monologue to explain everything to the protagonists/heroes 😆 But it's a fun thing that this is because of Shen Qingqiu being on Easy Mode. Definitely a great way at poking fun of other fictional villains that don't have diminished IQ due to a System and yet act in the exact same way. I do find the whole bit touching on the Skinner Demon's gender to be interesting. In one way you could see it as another acknowledgement that Shen Yuan is from the real world in modern times, where the idea of a person's preferred gender is slowly becoming something we, as a society, should be considerate of. In another it is a creative way to discuss body dysmorphia, that the Skinner Demon's psyche was so adversely affected potentially due to being forced/constrained to being in a body that did not fit the gender they are. "cling to the male lead's thighs", there really are so many moments when you just want to grab Shen Qingqiu, sit him down, and repeat back to him some of the things he says and thinks until he understands how such phrases could be misunderstood 🤣 Liu Qingge!!! His entrance is just as good in the novel (though, thankfully, minus the cliffhanger moment!) 🤩 But yes, the cat's finally out of the bag that Liu Qingge and Liu Mingyan are siblings 😂 Kept quiet on that one, like with knowing our Shen Qingqiu's original name Shen Yuan, because they give you that information in the novel. Honestly no idea why these two pieces of information that are just there in the novel were not mentioned in the donghua. Sarcasm is sometimes considered a second language here in Northern Ireland because we love to use it so much, so Shen Qingqiu being this sarcastic sassy guy definitely makes him incredibly relatable to me. Laughing so hard at your comparison of the twelve peaks and King Triton's daughters 😆 But it's a good comparison considering that in the donghua the members of the different peaks we saw also wore different colours. For example Liu Mingyan and Qi Qingqi were both in purple shades; Yue Qingyuan wore black and grey robes; Liu Qingge was in blue shades; and Mu Qingfang was in green. I almost took a drink just as you said "I think that whole 'grabbing his thighs' is really what's gonna be affecting the satisfaction points!" That was a close save because that comment made me laugh out loud so much.

I like the idea that on “easy mode” we start out with the stereotypes and work up from there! And yessss, that’s a really good point that Shen Yuan’s “modern thinking” is having an impact on how he interacts with this fantasy world – that’s really cool! And yeah, the idea of body dysmorphia and gender constructs being tied into this villain on “easy mode” is really wild – but MXTX incorporating that just makes me love them more as an author. Oh, I LOVED the “clinging to the male thighs” callback…oh Shen QingQiu – we love you! I feel like Michael Bluth to Tobias in Arrested Development, when Tobias says something and Michael’s like, “have you recorded yourself and listened back?” 😛 I LOVE that we have Liu Qingge in the novel, now! And yes, the fact that they are siblings is so fun! I feel maybe the donghua just didn’t see a need to mention that fact during the season, but I love that we know it now! And yesss, Shen QingQiu’s sarcasm is so hilarious; definitely relating to him, too! Ooohh, and your description of the sect members with different colors DEFINITELY helps lend credence to the Little Mermaid comparison! 😛I love it! Thank you for the comment and kind words!
