It's time to start reading the novel and there's already things to take NOTES on! Shen's character, information on Luo, the setting up on the "OG Story" - I can tell already from these first four chapters that I am going to LOVE this novel.

This first week was a work-in-progress to see how to set up Whiteboard-Kun vs. Conspiracy-Sama, but I think next week I have a better idea how I'm going to handle it! I can't wait to crack open this novel and explore it with you all!

Aaah, I'm so glad you started the novel! I thoroughly enjoyed your reactions to the donghua. It may have been short, ended abruptly in the middle of a random scene and the animation wonky at times, but it was a great time nonetheless! Be it in the donghua or the novel, SQQ (or Shen Yuan, but let's stick to the initials) really knows how to be entertaining; I adored his introduction in both formats to be honest, haha. It's true that in the donghua, 'post-darkening' LBH appears as more edgelord-like than really frightening to be honest, but when you read of his demeanor in the novel, it really puts things into perspective. No wonder SQQ is terrified, I would be too! I can't wait for you to revisit the story up until the end of the donghua through the novel, but I'm especially excited for you to discover the rest of it. It's gonna be a fun jouney!

I am SO excited to be at the novel! Thank you for the comment and kind words! I am glad that I watched the donghua first so I could experience it before going into the novel! MXTX's work really does shine through whatever format it's given! But YES, I definitely can see based on the novel so far, why Shen would be terrified of Luo Bing He! I can't wait to see the rest and go on this journey, too! Thank you!

Slowly catching up on reactions again. The donghua did give us a good amount of the backstory on the original novel, just Shen Yuan speed read through it which honestly I loved because it added a little more realism to how some fans and/or haters of things can be when trying to give newbies a quick overarching summary of the media 😂 Also love that they're *very* adamant in making sure you're aware that Shen Yuan, for all of his "hatred" towards the novel [really gonna tell me someone will hate read that length of work?!], he's not out here pirating the work and is giving his cash to the author. But my favourite thing for this opening is that the key to Shen Yuan getting isekai'd/transmigrated into the novel is by cursing out Airplane Bro for his plot holes 🤣 Learning that Shen Yuan has read a bunch of transmigration novels definitely helps you understand his character better for why he so easily accepts the situation he finds himself in, but also why he fully jumps into adopting a suitable persona as Shen Qingqiu. And yeah, the novel is just a tad more gruesome in regards to Shen Qingqiu's fate in the original story in comparison to the pickle jar in the donghua 🙃 The bit with the commenters wanting Shen Qingqiu to be castrated feels very much Mo Xiang Tong Xiu's commentary on how rabid readers can sometimes get in regards to what kind of comeuppance the villains should receive 😅 I don't know if I'm meant to see a correlation but Luo Binghe's Guanyin jade being the one offence he could never forgive makes me think of Jin Guangyao in Mo Dao Zu Shi and his one offence he could never forgive being if someone called him "son of a whore", and he built a Guanyin Temple in his mother's memory because of the pain her loss dealt him. Welcome Conspiracy Board-sama! 🥳 Take as long as you need for working out what works best for you for these reactions. Can I just say I absolutely adore your voice for the System! It's exactly how I imagined the voice would be in English when I was reading the novel 💕 The Chinese names for this one are definitely much harder on the Western tongue in comparison to Mo Dao Zu Shi and Tian Guan Ci Fu.
