As a lot of you may know (or at least should know) there is not a lot of money in YouTube. Not enough for one person to live off of, and there are technically four members of the NerdSync team now. This Patreon is a nice little bonus and we sincerely appreciate all of you who help out each month, but it's unfortunately not nearly enough to cover the bills. So now I have a question to ask. Actually, I have several. I am instinctively against advertising and sponsorships in videos. NerdSync has been approached several times by sponsors (even ones that I personally believe in and like) but I always turn them down. It's not a smart business strategy for making money, but it's something I've strongly believed was the right choice. But am I wrong here? Is advertising in our videos actually that big of a deal? As I said, I've always thought it was, but maybe it's not. What do you think? Would it be a big deal if NerdSync started advertising in our videos and podcast to help make ends meet? Let me know your thoughts.

I honestly don't mind seeing endorsments for things. As bob said, I also see lynda, squarspace and audible all over the channels I sub to. And I like most of those companies anyway, so why not? :D

(Sorry, LTTP again) - I am not against ads pre or post-roll during the podcasts and youtube segments. The problem that I have is that I've already given my business to most of the advertisers who frequent such mediums. Netflix, audible, Lootcrate -- I am already either a subscriber or tried them and decided they weren't for me. You could also contact a few non-standard avenues like genre book publishers or comic-related video games and/or board games (Sentinels of the Multiverse, e.g.)
