Seriously, what IS comics? I know it sounds a bit silly to think about, but it's actually a heavily debated topic among comic book researchers and theorists. We're not just talking about comic books or comic strips or graphic novels, but comics as an art form. The problem is that no definition has been accepted as the universal description of what comics is. People typically create definitions that are too broad and tell us nothing about what comics is, or are way too specific and limit what comics can be. Today, we'll try to find out definitively how to define comics, if it's even possible at all! Perhaps "comics" is simply in the eye of the beholder. How do you define comics?
