Definitely a hit for me, I was tearing up a bit watching it when it came out, and that was before... all the stuff. I do agree that it's a rising trend and you're probably going to be seeing more afrobeat, mostly because of Water's explosion in popularity. Le Sserafim's Smart and this are just the beginning of a new wave I think (obviously there were tracks before, KARD and a lot of early chungha have some as well as some of Kang Daniels stuff). Yeah the track is about shining like a diamond, but you can see they all placed their own crystals in the middle after looking battle scarred with their makeup and stuff, it's more about shining like a diamond as you are, despite all of your supposed flaws or how the world might otherwise perceive you as not-a-diamond. They did a little mini video before the comeback that was classically silly like they are, but they collected those gems in that video to represent them.

Just to add on, Shinsadong Tiger's family WAS his music family. Obviously he has relatives but he didn't have a wife or kids, he spent his time with the groups he produced and worked with. Most notably LE of EXID, his long time partner in crime, producing songs together for over a decade, probably going on 15 years. But he was present in a lot of early Beast and 4M content, and was like an older brother to EXID and almost a father to the TRI.BE girls, especially Songsun who had known him for nearly a decade, and hyunbin. Not only did he leave an indelible impact on the industry, as well as being my GOAT (he produced most of T-ARAs hits, EXID, 4Minute, etc, basically most of my path in kpop was influenced by him) but he also just came off as a genuinely good dude. Such a tragedy. We joke about hags in kpop but he was ONLY 40. He had so much life left to live. I can't imagine how his chosen family, the groups he worked with, are feeling right now. I hope Elly is ok.
