This round, the first one, was simply for each group to pick a hit song of theirs and perform it. They were not given more to go on than that. This was a huge hit for Mamamoo back in 2016, albeit the music video caused a pretty big controversy and had to be pulled and edited. So part of the reason it's worth watching the whole show when you can is because you get a lot of context. You'd see the process of the artists choosing which song to perform and practicing it, and then them arriving, getting ready, performing, and then, giving their feedback about themselves and the others afterwards (they had to do a self-evaluation as part of the competition for each round). The best context about this is that Mamamoo had just completed a 2-day concert in Daegu that weekend - the day before the recording for Queendom. So they had basically no sleep, much less rehearsal time, and their voices were hardly in top condition. They took 2nd place for this round regardless. Also, there are two versions of the performance on YouTube - one which is just the performance, and one which is the unedited version from the show itself, which has all the cuts showing the other groups watching and reacting/commenting on it.

I'd recommend checking out both versions of the performances, if you don't have time to watch the full show. The reactions from the other groups are pretty entertaining, and they're English subtitled.
