It is also incredibly ironic that this was chosen randomly since it is his birthday in Korea today. (Tomorrow for me)

It is actually much deeper then that “Before our spring” is actually quite sad. If you dive deep into the lyrics he relates spring to warmth and happiness, while it is still cold to him. He also equates spring to death, as he feels it is the only way he can be happy again. In the song he talks about looking to someone longingly and shawol believe he is talking about his Shinee band mates and and also Shawol. He wishes he could tell people his troubles but instead he looks longingly. You can almost see throughout this he song jonghyun hoping someone will help. He says towards the end of the song “I’m afraid to go to you because I am afraid I am contagious”. This feels like he is talking about depression and sadness and like he is afraid he will spread it to others. He says he will be better once spring comes and then we never figure out why in the song because he ends the song with the words “then”. It is quite sad and haunting to think about. Today is his birthday. Thank you so your reaction to this people piece of work

Jonghyun does play the piano, bass guitar, and the kazoo. He was originally a bassist in his childhood band, I believe he was scouted while his band was performing. Before Our Spring is really beautiful, but the lyrics is really hard for me to take. From what I know, he had seasonal affective disorder, which means deeper depression sets in during a specific season, most commonly during winter. He passed in winter, before spring. The "I'm afraid i'm contagious" part really broke my heart though
