Nachelie

The boss keeps getting in the way and the girlfriend isn't even listening to her man. He is clearly uncomfortable and needs help.

Nachelie

Exactly why does she listen to Jae Ho more than Jong Woo? Of course he is losing it when two people close to him aren't taking him seriously about his problems.

Nachelie

Also you guys mention the girlfriend has problems too but how is it worse than what Jong Woo is going through? She never talks to him about it and can't listen to his.

Mochi

So there were a few cool things in this episode that I'd like to point out, that reflect this story's message and sort of really drive home it's social commentary. 1. The book that Moon Jo(Mr. 302/The Dentist) is reading, is actually a book he stole from Jongwoo's room and it is called The Metamorphasis by Franz Kafka which is about a man who wakes up one day to discover he's been turned into a giant bug, and the struggles of adjusting to his new life. This is a parallel to Jongwoo. 2. Multiple times in this episode, our good lady cop mentions social persecution and perception essentially being the reason we become crazy and fall victim to the exact stuff we try to avoid. Which is a huge reference to Jean-Paul Sartre, and his philosophical belief that we are all trapped within others perceptions of us, thus making us into the the idea of us they have in their heads. In the car at 18:33 when cop lady and her partner talk about Jongwoo, she poses the question, "Do you know why he appears strange?" and then answers the question with Sartre's quote, "It is not me who is strange, but others who make me strange." i.e. "hell is other people" which is the name of the show as well as a famous quote from Sartre's play "No Exit". This is then referenced 2 more times, once by her grandmother who says "If you believe in people's kindness, they can be the sweetest people you know" versus, believing in the worst and only seeing the worst. It's all about our own personal perceptions and perspectives of people. The last time it is mentioned is when Jongwoo's mother literally warns him to be wary of people. That other people are the scariest...what's not said is why they are the scariest, and it's because of the way they think and judge us. To put it simply, if you think I'm doing bad without knowing me, everything I do will somehow look bad to you anyway without evidence. Same to the opposite. It's a lose lose situation no matter what I do. Moral of this? Fuck social constructs, act up and be yourself! At the end of the day, it's much better than turning into someone you're not at the cost of your sanity.

HAHAHA, I was grabbing my hair and screaming “NOOOO, LEAVE!” at the screen cause I would have left that sketchy as boarding house already. I don’t know if it’s because I’m from Latin America (where the crime rate is high, lots of corruption and robbery so I’m always paranoid and suspicious) or because I’ve read that South Korea is the opposite from where I live (very low street robbery and crime I think so I’m sure people there are not as paranoid as me) but Jong-Woo is way too damn curious!

It’s like they are drugging him so he loses his mind little by little. Obviously he has nightmares and something dark from his past when he enlisted that we are not aware of yet, but the fact that he tried to confide in his girlfriend and his boss (the trashiest friend), how they don’t give him the chance to explain himself and people diminishing him all the time doesn’t help as well. He doesn't have friends... It's hard for him.

Also, the girlfriend is sketchy. I think she’s playing dumb and she knows the Boss likes her, but she wants to keep it there cause she didn’t even try to match the female manager with the boss at all. She had a weird expression going on at that time… Hmm.

Kyle

The girlfriend is terrible and she does not care about jongwoo or his issues at all and the boss was never his friend even in the beginning. So as of right now jongwoo is quite literally on his own. Also, a random side note, Im Siwan (the mc) is gonna be in squid game season 2 and I love his acting so i'm really excited for him to get more exposure.

Alejandra

I'm so ready for you guys to watch the ending! The way this show is constructed is insane, it has soo many layers to it.

Mochi

I'm so excited for Siwan and his expressive ass eyebrows. Misaeng is another great drama he's in ~

Pilausky

LoL I wasn't expecting redpill Adorkable at the beginning.
