Thorfinn means he could get away. You know knock a few out and make it to the boat. Thorfinn ain’t beating 20 never mind 100 Jomsvikings (at once, he could probably defeat them all if they took turns at 1v1) For proof, just look at snake, he was gonna die if Canute didn’t call them back and He was going toe to toe with thorfinn

The way I think about Ketil, is that for the most part he has lived in a “fair” world thanks to his status. It’s why he seems reasonable as a slave owner. It’s only fair that he gets special treatment from the crown because he offers the crown the most crop/gifts. It’s fair that the slaves be able to earn their freedom if they are good workers. It’s fair to beat a slave if they steal, although he has no heart for it. He has only faced unfairness once prior to this and that was when his father gave away his love for safety and he has never fully faced that. He just blamed his father and decided to grow to avoid facing reality. Canute cheating him out of his land is the only other time he faces unfairness again and he fights against it. He is bitter and angry about it, so much so that he takes it out on Arnheid. The farmer talking to him shows that the world has always been unfair to so many others. Especially the poor and slaves. He has never felt it’s weight until now, now that someone of higher standing has used that unfairness against him, hence his shock and letting go of the men. He now understands the reality of the world he had been sheltered from

The only thing I don’t like about Einar confession is, Gardar died not too long ago. I feel like I would understand it more if she was his wife or family. However, since she was already gone, it’s okay. This season is doing wonders for Thorfinn. Last season, I thought was weak because he didn’t really develop at all. In retrospect, this season makes the last season better.

Actually Ketil isn't wrong or a hypocrite for fighting Canute. Canute can't just take his land cause he is the king. If he could he would of . Instead he tried to frame Ketil son. He knew he had no right to the lands of nobles and rich merchants. So he set plans into motion to frame him so he can trey to take it. even tho I do feel for what Arnheid was going through the fact that she was a slave gave her no rights. were Ketil was a free law-a biding men by that time period standards who supports the King with great supplies. Honestly I fee like Canute is off his game rushing things. Thats why he almost got killed. I feel like he could just asked Ketil to increase the amount of supplies that sends in order to support the his Army but I don't think the thought even crossed his mind. If he would of took his time and learn about ketil he probably would have figured it out. But while he was planing to target different rich farmers Ketil arrived not knowing the canute brother had already died. SO Canute frame plan was rushed cause he didn't want to pass up a golden opportunity to try get ketil before he left. If he would have just asked he probably would of gained an ally cause at the time all Ketil wanted was to peaceful farm his land. He would gladly gave support to not cause a fight.

Skebaba

Kinda crazy that OG wise Thorfinn would have been the Jomsviking leader after some more decades

Skebaba

INCORRECT. As the dude says MIGHT MAKES RIGHT, so whoever is the strongest IS THE RIGHTEST, simple as. So if the King can fuck up Ketil, he is in the right for confiscating his shit, facts

Oliver

Damm Lee love the drip!

Yaboyrocklee

Well…than Arnheid isnt “wrong” for trying to he free. But yeah Skebaba the the reasons i said Ketil was wrong or a hypocrite was with the logic you provided. I think it was intentional writing. That Ketil is now in the position his slaves were/are in.

Danny

i think the reason why Canute chose violence was because he planned on taking other farms too. Even if say, Ketil were to agree, idk if the other farmers will. So Canute just thought that the most efficient method is simply taking the land by force and make Ketil an example to the other farmers to not resist.

I am commenting before I finish the video so I don't forget but Thorfinn is talking about Vinland as in North America/Canada. Or more specifically the east side of the entire continent. He wasn't quoting that for the afterlife. Vinland technically is a version of paradise from what the series is making it out to be but the place is real and thorfinn was quoting what his father would say. Remember Leif made it to Vinland himself and told thorfinn about it as a kid. You see a flashback of him meeting Indian tribes people. If you already knew that or I misunderstood don't worry about my comment. I just wanted to make it so I didn't forget by the end of the reaction cause I noticed you said thorfinn was saying vinland is the afterlife cause Arnheid passed on. I am pretty sure he meant it as something like how Arnheid wished to go to a place without war and slaves and even though she is dead thorfinn wanted her to come along with them to vinland to build a peaceful place. More like symbolic I think than anything else.

Yeah thorfinn definitely the most skilled fighter in the series by quite a bit but it would be too much for him to take on 100 jomsvikings at once. One at a time one after the other he definitely could take them on but not all at once. Glad you pointed out the fact that thorfinn is specifically going the peaceful route in this encounter. All of that character development isn't for nothing!
