i think its because the showed the 1st wizard king at the same time but licht doesnt have light magic the 1st wizard king did. he used a different attribute that he said in the last episode... but imma let it ride. because these were recorded a while ago they probably know by now.

so basically what yami figured out during this fight with charlotte these elves are using the attributes differently in charlotte's case the elf is using a whole lot of mana boasting spells and making them powerful however different from human charlotte who due to a curse had a more refined skilled base that made her spells more efficient so basically the grims and attributes aren't as compatible with the elves as the original users but the elves make up for it with mana.

Julius was like an older brother to Yami from what I saw in the anime, the two were very close. In addition to the wizard king's body, he may have been afraid that elves will use a spell on his body, like Rades (the zombie guy) from Eye of the Midnight Sun.
