The nazis were pieces of shit that aren't human. Rock's sympathy is misplaced at best, and he's just fucking dumb at worst. The medals those men earned were from some of the most horrific things in human history. Fuck em, steal their genocide tokens and sell them for cash. They don't deserve the bare minimum of human dignity, respect, or consideration.

It's good to have morals but Rock's was extremely misplaced. Yeah, those were medals earned by those soldiers but they were earned for doing some of the most malicious and horrific acts in human history. Fuck respecting the dead of it's dead people like that. Morals don't have to be unconditional.

One thing you didn't realize is that there was only one SS soldier there. The rest were Wehrmacht. The only way Rock's sympathy would be misplaced is if he was referring to the SS soldier only. Hell even the captain himself said he had disdain and disgust for Nazi ideals. Sure the Wehrmacht's hands are far from clean, but I'm not going to pretend that they're Nazis either.

Actually morals do have to be more or less unconditional, otherwise they aren't really worth much. Breaking your moral code when your life or the life of someone else is in some sort of peril is one thing, but simply doing it because you don't like someone or because you gain some immediate, fleeting benefit means your moral code was pretty weak to begin with.

Ah, this where we really start picking up as others have said, but we also start to see that sweet, sweet Revy/Rock dynamic start to develop and mature. Over the course of the show, their interactions and relationship with each other has profound, lasting impressions on who they are as characters and people and it does it so very organically and subtly, it's arguably the best part of the show and if Black Lagoon wasn't as overall great as it is would be worth watching for all on its own!~ Gah, I'm a teenager again, dawg lol❤️

We saw in the last episode they really didn't care about the nazi ideology they were just soldiers blindly doing what they were told. Not that that helps their case, but I can understand if you saw a dead man and didn't want to rob his corpse. The problem is that Rock doesn't know they weren't pieces of ass and he sees a nazi soldier and can only sympathize with the crew members of the ship he's about to rob.

Even though it was an accident, I think it was actually for the best that Rock dropped the painting in that moment. Because if they held onto it they would have to basically fight a whole ship of nazi in a submarine underwater with only Revy having a weapon. So now instead of fighting a losing battle they can strategically get their get-back

I do think it's weird though how this episode basically says "Nazis are bad" but Revy is shown as good when she's a murderer (just like the Nazis), a thief (just like the Nazis), and sees anyone other than herself as nothing more than a tool to get by (just like the Nazis). I don't think it is that weird at all. Not caring about traditional morals doesn't mean you can't have individual thought and opinions and are all of sudden okay with everything. They may not abide by morals in the sense of thinking of certain things as objectively right and wrong and judging people based on those morals, but that doesn't mean they can't dislike people just based on personal taste and opinions. I'm sure Revy is not a fan of cops in general because of her past with them and what many cops stand for. I'm sure it's the same for Nazis for them.

Even if Rock didn't drop the painting they were bound to get outnumbered by the neo Nazis despite how much of a savage Revy is. Y'all are so harsh with Rock. You can blame Revy just as much as you can blame Rock for staying on the ship too long. They could've avoided everything if they just got the painting and gotten out. But as for Rock as a character, it's a good thing he's showing his vulnerability. That's where character development shines and makes the show interesting.
