Whew lads! Been a while since I made something big. The .ase file is attached if you wanna see all the layers. I can make a .psd copy too if anyone would like one 

Hella rough sketch. Decided against the staircase. It shifted the view too much left 

Frame stuff. The bookshelves were made by copy pasting one book section and redrawing some book lines to make them all look different. 

Decided to change the wood direction. Straight lines felt too boring 

Bottom level bookshelf was made by copy pasting the top floor bookshelves. I couldn't figure out how to make the shelves line up so I make it curved instead. Using a limited number of colours for books stops it getting too cluttered. 

Adding in more details. Little details are nice and make it more atmospheric like the ladder 

Touched up books. Making each one have a different pattern makes breaks up colour and is more interesting to look at, if tedious to draw 

Polished more details. Book stacks were made by making one book and copy pasting/stacking them on top of each other, then changing colours and cover patterns. In iso for objects remember to have them on the same pixel grid e.g I used 2x2x2x---- so the books used the same pattern. 

Lighting was made using filters layered over top, about 2 were used per scene. The night scene also uses the day scene filters
