edit feels like i should probably explain more why i make design and colour choices, etc. i'll make more of an effort to do that ngl tho most of my choices can be summed up as 'because i think it looks cool'

Estimated time 2 hours over the course of 1 week (took longer than I wanted it to bc switching computer and a bunch of stressful stuff involved in that) anyway!

initial concept made in sai, drew over it in aseprite with more ideas

remade sketch in aesprite. i like working on the head first, makes it easier to proportion everything else

cleaned sketch

this just me but i really like using lighter lines for softer details like ruffles, helps them stand out less while still being nice to look at

because the overall idea is gothic-y and i just happen to really like it i went with purple. pink breaks up that mass purple without being repetitive and the detailing on the dress and veil reuses colours that still stand out without being out of place. because the purple is so dark i can't/shouldn't use an equally dark colour again and repeating colours is good the soul or something like that

with pixels i believe (somewhat disputed on one server) that a limited palette isn't entirely necessary but it is nice and is helpful to with work. i reused colours from the horns for the dress and the skull for details, the veil and background. there's no reason to say u can't have a wide range of colours but reusing them is good too. too many gets hard to pick out and is distracting. tho i absolutely disagree with using gradient tools or blur or smudge tools, don't ever do that y'all

ain't no shame in re-positioning and redrawing things at a late stage of art

i just really really wanted to draw something gothic-y
