Its not really explained in the movie, but the reason Harry returns home to the Dursley's each year is explained a little in the book. Harry's mother sacrificed herself in protection of Harry and by some magical approximation he is protected from Voldermort while he can still call a blood relative (his Aunt Petunia) home. He has to return there each summer to call it his home. He cant really stand his relatives and they really cant stand Harry, BUT Petunia knows this because it was explained to her by Dumbledore and she at least has enough empathy in her deep down that she won't risk Harry's life by throwing him out or letting him leave.

A little more background: James (Harry's dad) was friends with Sirius, Lupin and Peter at Hogwarts. Lupin was bit by a warewolf as a kid and so he became one. Dumbledore set up the shack so Lupin could stay there when he had his episodes. People heard the shrieking he made as a warewolf and so thought it was haunted. The Womping Willow was planted over the only entrance and obviously it defends itself so no student tries to enter but Lupin. James, Sirius and Peter taught themselves how to become Anamagus, so they could hang out with Lupin as anaimals when he was a warewolf. James a stag, Sirius a dog, Peter a rat. They never told anyone they did this. The fact nobody knew Sirius was able to turn into a dog helped him escape from Azkaban when nobody else had been able to do so before. And sirius never pledged himself to Voldermort. He was framed by Peter and always maintained his innocence. However he did have several family members who were supporters of Voldermort, so that didn't help his case.

Some things though just to help Harry were 11 in the first movie so each movie he's gets one year older. So they’ll be at Hogwarts for 7 years total this series until they're 18. Also, the reason Dumbledore’s voice changed is because the actor for the first two movies passed away during that time. So, they recast with a new actor and this Dumbledore will be around the rest of the series. The general consensus among fans and critics is that "Prisoner of Azkaban" marks a significant turning point in the Harry Potter film series. With a new director, the movie aimed to establish a darker and more mature tone, setting the stage for the future films. This shift is shown in the portrayal of the teenage characters, who are meant to be more like young teens rather than younger children previously. The cinematography and pacing of the films become faster and darker, it's supposed to reflect the series' evolution to grow alongside its audience. I think with each movie going forward even if it's not your favorite there will be elements that y'all will enjoy bc it gets more mature as it goes along. I'm really enjoying watching people reacting to the series for the first time :)

We're cranking them out. Sorry for the delays. It takes a bit of time to get them all together. Really grateful that you're here though. Thank you.

The map was created by Mooney (Werewolf/Lupin), Wormtail (Rat/Pettigrue), Padfoot (Dog/Black) and Prongs (Stag/Potter) when they were young and at Hogwarts. ☺️ Another thing to remember is a persons patronus shield can take the form of an animal. For a wizard who has become an Animagus the animal tends to be the same as their patronus. Example James Potter’s patronus was a stag. But just because a wizard’s patronus can take an animal form doesn’t mean they are also an animagus. Also, in case you haven’t picked up on it yet, Hagrid is not just tall, he is a half giant. The actor who played him was normal height, but they used a mix of practical effects and camera tricks to achieve it on film so people don’t always catch it. The “pureblood” self proclaimed “elite” wizards are extremely racist. Not just against mudbloods but against any other type of magical beings they think are beneath them (goblins, elves, sentors, giants, etc). There are classifications within their world like Near Human and Beast. This is why Hagrid is discriminated against (remember Riddle/Voldemort got him expelled). Same as to why Lupin resigned when he was found out. The nuances of the racism within their society is easier to pick up on in the books. Another thing they don’t really explain well in the movies is that Voldemort put a spell on his name during the last wizarding war when he was at his peak of power. The spell allows him to immediately locate anyone who dared to say his name. This is why society says “you know who”.
