I have a lot of fun playing with Vanessa's face! Would that face count as ahegao? It's probably right on the cusp.

The third panel was a tough pose for me to nail, the foreshortening was tripping me up, along with that area being a weak spot for me. I tried to focus a little more as I was making this page, intent on visualizing each pose more accurately and making lines with more intent instead of noodling around. I feel like I achieved more of a "zen" state that way, so that's a good sign.

This page had I think the most similarities of all to the final piece! The only really notable difference is Luis' proximity to Vanessa in the last panel! Also interesting to note only one panel has an orange line color, is that because it overlaps other panels? Also do you think of dialogue boxes during or after sketching out the layout of the page?

Yeah, this one stayed pretty on-point the whole way through and I didn't change my mind much. :) That panel is orange because it's on a different layer-- anytime I'm wanting to sketch more loosely, I do so on a different layer so that I don't affect any other panels-- and I make it a different color to keep track.

As for dialogue boxes, I used to think them up late in development, but I've started making a habit of coming up with the final dialogue around the end of the sketch phase, to make better room for the bubbles in the composition and so I don't have to wrack my brain near the end of development, when my brain is at its most frazzled.
