Luka (Patreon)

Just like with humans, anxiety and stress in our animal friends can present in very different ways depending on the animal. How they experience bereavement, and any other major upheaval and changes in their lives has very different ways of displaying.
Lately, Mikayla and I have noticed that Luka seemed to have lost some weight and that his coat wasn’t looking like it was in its best condition, he seem to be blowing it and of course doing that in the middle of January, in Minnesota is never good; so as soon as we noticed this we got him right to the vet.
The good news is that apart from a slight change in his red blood cell count, there was nothing of any real concern in his blood work and his physical came back just fine. The red blood cells were not enough for the vet to be concerned so he is confident that Luka is currently feeling some anxiety and some stress and maybe a little bit of depression and of course with he, Jack and all of us having just lost Valentine it’s completely understandable that he would maybe be experiencing some physical symptoms of that loss.
So what does this mean? Right now it means that we keep a close eye on him for any other changes; but mostly what it means is that Luka gets even more love, even more playtime and even more treats and attention from us than he normally would do, and of course from all his favourite people, which hopefully will make him feel better in no time!
We’ll keep you posted :)
