Yor went along with it because she lied to her brother and workmates that she has a boyfreind/ partner, and so decided to get him to accompany her. Remember the workmates were pestering her about being single and told her to go to the party with her man, and were even thinking of reporting her as being suspicious as women her age are usually not single. Single women are considered suspicious because they are more likely to be spies infiltrating. Spies normally don't have families and long lasting relationships because they are always switching identities. Loid even mentioned that the female spies in his area were caught in a spy hunt-- that was because people reported them as suspicious. But Yor can't afford to be reported as she is an assassin (for that country, not Loid's country.) and could blow her cover. Also, Yor having a husband clears her of the public's weird suspicions, and would allow her to do her job without the extra weight of being watched for being 27 and single.

I don't think you've noticed but when Damian is remembering Ania's face, her eyes are shown being more beautiful than when the actual scene plays (I don't really know how to explain in English tbh), that's nice detail that shows he's not indifferent ;)
