I was going to point out that Bulbasaur being a poison type shouldn't help much because almost every gen 1 grass was also poison, but then Tangela was the only pure grass in the whole game, so what you say is true. On a different note, it is annoying how the anime pays less and less attention to the game's locations as it goes on, in favor of generic towns or hills or oh-so-many forests.
