These two videos I'm putting out now are rougher than usual, in that I haven't put in the backgrounds or music yet, but I really wanted to show you guys a semi-viable product this month and the bones are all there.

Gen II let you skip it - the first person on the first Route asks you if you want to know when you leave New Bark Town after getting the Pokedex, and if you say no she actually listens. Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure that the Old Man in Gen I lets you say no too...

In Red and Blue you have to go out of your way to talk to him and you can still say no. However in Yellow he pulls you up, doesn't let you say no and you have to watch his failed tutorial, after which he disappears from the map. Entering the Viridian City PokeMart respawns him with similar behaviour to Red and Blue.

ah, makes sense I don't remember that - I only played Yellow once, and made that my main game, I kept starting new games in Blue to play through with different Pokemon and stuff, and then traded them into Yellow for safekeeping
