Not going to lie - this month ran me over like a truck. It was like last month I pulled through due to sheer adrenaline and it all caught up now. I've had meltdown after meltdown due to anxiety and stress, almost purely due to just trying to exist while recovering from last month. Not to mention Leo had to work extra hours and Seth had issues at school meaning they had to stay home way more often and... it's just been super rough, let's just say that.

But even with all that I was still able to at least get another scene done! Trust me, this is NOT ideal working conditions, once I finally recover properly and set up the workflows I'll easily be able to do at the very least an episode a month to start, maybe even two,

I feel like the general consensus is card people and puff pokemon so we'll stick with that for now, but I'd like your opinion on whether to do stock photo backgrounds or hand drawn backgrounds. Which do you think is funnier / more effective? Hand drawn coming in a bit!

Yu-Gi-Oh Ragnarok

I adored that bit with Gary beating up Ash. It was pure genius. The writing, the timing and the sound effects. I'm fine with stock images man, You're doing so much as is, you gotta take it easy somewhere and the backgrounds is the easiest place to do it. Love your work and I love you. (No homo)

Death of Ink

I am loving these! This really seems like a great way to keep your Pokemon Journey going, I'm happy to stay on as a traveling companion!!

Sorry you're having a rough time, I hope things get easier for you and your family soon. Considering how much work you're already putting into the puppets, there's nothing wrong with stock images for the background. Also, that clip had me laughing for a few good minutes, especially with Pikachu tackling Ash at the end. XD I can't wait to see a whole episode of this.

Verdant Range

I'm good either way for backgrounds. It's looking good so far.

At least in this clip, I prefer the stock photos over the sketches. Maybe save the sketches for when there's something specific you want to reference/call attention to that you can't find a stock photo to properly convey.

Btw, the gag of having human fingers pop open a plastic capsule to portray the PokeBalls is just *chef's kiss*

Yeah, Photos are definitly the better background.

Pun-Inator

maybe you could do a mixture, like stock photos for most (which I do prefer) but the drawings for say... important battles because that would visually indicate the shift

I strongly prefer the stock backgrounds for these- I also would like to think that they'd be less of a workload on you, I'm sure that no matter how simple, the sketch backgrounds would eventually add up to taking a lot more time than stock backgrounds. I don't want to be discouraging in any way, and if it's your vision I'm all for it but, overall, I'm very much concerned that this whole puppet-show style format might be more time consuming and effort-intensive than it's worth- I think puppeting some digitally drawn doodles (or even just jpgs of the characters) in after effects, or whatever software you use, may be a cleaner and easier solution. Of course, I come from a very very uninformed angle so I may be way off. I just hope that these episodes don't end up in a place where they're more work intensive than they used to be, or take longer to make, or anything. In my own experience, anytime a physical thing has to be crafted for a process, and incorporated into a digital file, no matter how small, it adds a disproportionate amount of work to the overall process. Aside from all that though, the comedic timing and everything feels totally solid, no weaker than the original videos by any means!

I'm glad you are still trucking through. I think the photo backgrounds look the best.

I like the stock photo. It differentiates the card puppets from the background, and also it just looks funny.

I think I'm on team Photo but I don't have a strong preference.
