This one's doing double duty as an update as to where I've been all month and as a representation video for next month. Don't worry, the other vids are coming, they're just a surprise so no Watch Me Script. Thanks for your patience!

Oh, so that's why you were relatively quiet. Good to hear.

I know EXACTLY how you feel - I have a very good job that plays to my strengths (math & programming), while accommodating my ASD stuff very well, and I can clearly see that I am doing much more, and much more efficiently, than my predecessor (I'm literally the CFO and entire financial department of a quite successful small business), but the job is at my family's family business, so... I have this constant feeling that I only am doing well because of nepotism, and there's this ever-present cloud of guilt because of that...

Thank you for this Suede. I am also someone with ASD (used to be called Asperger's back in the day, as you mentioned) and while nowadays I personally feel like I fit more on the high functioning side of things, it's kind of become something that I barely think about unless I'm reminded of it. Regardless, this video here really gives me some context about some things (quirk?) about my personality that I notice, and honesty sometimes forget about myself. It's nice to see videos like this that stress the human need for empathy, regardless of race, creed, whatever else. In short, I just want to say thank you. And keep up the great work.

Since this an Autism Awareness video, I can say with confidence that my situation's actually pretty close to yours. I technically fall under Asperger's, but I suppose now would be called ASD, albeit higher functioning. And because of this, I have some unique quirks. These include a vocabulary that ranges from cartoony to elegant. More importantly, I too am prone to masking. In fact, I've masked more times than even I want to admit. It's the price I pay for living in the deep south, where ableism is the order of the day. I'm pretty introverted too, mostly caused from being treated like a freak of nature at school. In my case, one of my major upsets is constant screams and yells. Even before I gained stuff like depression and PTSD it always gave both my ears and my mind a serious once-over.
