You almost have to admire Brock, no matter how many times he's rejected, no matter how many times he's humiliated, no matter how many times he ends up in pain, he never gives up His chase for the perfect girl. Whether or not that's a good thing or bad thing really depends on context.

i suppose brock doing the back scratch thing could be a reference to how deers can rub their horns on trees or rocks to remove stuff from their horns and sharpen them

It's a shame because I actually kind of like the episodes where people release pokemon back into the wild. It feeds my personal head canon of pokemon catching being like falconry (as opposed to cock fighting). Falconers capture juvenile raptors and hunt with them for a few years until the birds are old enough to breed, then they release them back into the wild. This greatly reduces die off. I like to think of a pokemon journey being about young humans taking in weak young pokemon and training them up, or at least keeping them for awhile to study, before releasing most of them back into the wild. It would explain the pokemon world's incredible biodiversity.
