Love it!

2:56 I understood that reference.

Mewtwo's story, as I understood it as a child, reminded me strongly of *me*, and affected me deeply. This deeper thing has exponentiated that...

Honestly I wasn’t really a fan of the synopsis being basically a rehash of the original video, I much prefer your current Pokémon Journey style. The additional thoughts on the film were a big plus though

I have to say I like the revamped format. Feels a lot tighter, and it works better without the "MMO to prove peoples' worth as a fan" framing device.

Mewtwo wiping their minds isn’t really a problem given that they were teaching him the lesson all their own so they didn’t forget the facts they taught him. It would be something if he wiped his own mind or if he taught them something that was then wiped. I do miss the older style a little bit because there was more touched upon but then again some of it was due to there being a third person there mostly for trivia plus that storyline was kinda funny with the bickering...

Christopher Borriello

Dunno why, but this 2nd half flowed much better than the 1st half. While it still feels iffy to have that old script translated into this current style, I still see great improvement has occurred just from one half video to the next. I foresee this working.

Feels so good to see these again. It's kind of whacky that on top of the nostalgic appeal I felt seeing you review these movies the first time round, I'm now similarly nostalgic for your goddamn videos.

So is Linkara sticking around at least up until 4ever, just to cover how far you guys got the first time round?

I do kind of miss the whole concept of a review mixing with some sort of narrative, though. I could understand this plays out better, tho.

Not like this

I...didn't actually know that Linkara was still around. I've only ever seen him in old collabs and videos. Cool!

For the record I'm willing to go much farther in defending this movie. I honestly think it's a master ball. Mewtwo is really cool, the journey across the storm is fun, the scene where Ash is trying to keep his pokemon from being captured is REALLY gripping for me, and as for the fight scene and the tears...well, it's always made sense to me that "Pokemon were not meant to fight...not like this." I know it's dripping in apparent hypocrisy, but a part of what makes pokemon battles okay is not just that they're willing participants in a competition, but also that they are basically magical creatures fighting each other with magical attacks. A pokemon using Bite is just DIFFERENT from two pokemon biting each other. It's visually more brutal, and emphasizing that they can't use attacks makes it feel more real, and that they could actually be hurt. Plus with the games as context I've always had a kind of subconscious connection between this and Struggle. When a pokemon can't use moves anymore it uses Struggle, hurting both it and its opponent. Pokemon are not meant to fight like this. As for the tears. Yes it's stupid. But, and this is very important: I was maybe 3 or 4 when I saw it and so it is good. Yes it's an incredibly cheap emotional grab but if you show a 4 year old a bunch of pokemon crying it will work. Besides, it just adds to the camp. In summary, about half of the serious content legitimately works and the other half is ridiculous, campy and melodramatic enough that it adds to the fun. Call it so bad it's good, I think it's just good. Honestly I've watched most of the pokemon movies recently and would call a lot of them legitimately good, even past the point where I lost interest in the anime. Anyways, thank you fellow patrons for coming to my ted talk.

"What kind of psycho forms a group of peers based on himself?" I feel like that's a jab at the "critic" who shall not be named
