So after some legit notes on the script for my first movie redux review, I've made a rejiggered script that scraps the framing device and shuffled things around so that it's in the traditional Journey format. Please check it out, both those who criticized the first script and those who were okay with it, let me know if this feels and flows better. Thanks again for your feedback!

I definitely like the Journey format here. Doing it for the movie reminds me of how you did Pokémon Origins, which was sort of another special event. The biggest benefit I see is that it appears to be much less effort to make while using a tried-and-true formula, so I think this going to work out well. I’m unsure of if the Japanese info would work better during the synopsis like you have, or if it would be better in the Trivia section. Given that there are several major changes, probably in the synopsis I’d better so it doesn’t overwhelm the Trivia section. Speaking of which, I hope you include stuff about the marketing and cultural zeitgeist around the movie. As a 10-year-old in the US, this was probably the biggest event that ever happened in my life up to that point. There were ties with the TV show, commercials, Burger King toys (that got recalled for being a suffocation hazard), and even the Ancient Mew trading card you got with your ticket! The Olympics in Atlanta were a few years earlier and had similarly pervasive marketing, but the fact that this was targeted at me and got me and others hyped made it even more exciting. So yeah, important part of the movie and I hope you cover it.

I agree with Will Herrmann on the marketing aspect. Just jumping into the movie with a synopsis doesn't capture the build up to the film's premiere (at least in the US). These weren't just episodes you could just skip, they were big must-see events (at least first few were). It would also be a great way to reintroduced Linkara for new viewers considering I don't recall you ever brought him as a guest star for one of your episodes. Also, I like to imagine Linkara literally falling out of the sky when you summon him for this review. As for Japanese comparison, you still have one left in the main synopsis (the one with Mew's suggestion about no powers) and it seems very jarring without the other comparisons in the synopsis. Also, I think the differences between Japan and the US versions should warrant a special trivia section. Namely, how does the original version affect your views on the movie? Better or worse? Are there some things the US dub did better? That sort of thing.

I always find it interesting how The Birth of Mewtwo was originally a radio drama that was LATER animated and added to the Japanese broadcasts of the movie. It was eventually dubbed and we got it as The Uncut Story of Mewtwo's Origin - a bonus feature on the Mewtwo Returns DVD!

I totally understand the need to do these reviews in the Journey's style. It definitely fits your current brand and the script is looking great! Though I truly hope you and Linkara will finally get the chance to play the Pokemon MMO.

Oh my god the opening is SO much better. You're the man, Suede. It's so rare to find people who not only can take constructive criticism, but then actually go and act on it. Massive props to you.

Part of me, the part I'm ashamed of, is going to miss the utter train wreck that was the first 3 movie reviews from years ago. I've never seen a joke go from Cringy to very cringy to ultra-mega cringy like that before. But I suppose it is best left in the past.
