Hi suede I’ve tried messaging you before but you didn’t seem to get them, I never got a new patron shoutout

Just notices the title card says 93 instead of 94

Another excellent video, Suede! It's funny how I could recall an episode later on where Snorlax's Pokeball breaks, but somehow I'd totally forgotten there was an episode where Ash had to actually catch the dang thing. And now I realize it's probably because I probably blocked it from my memory due to the whole "something good can come from something bad" line. I hate those kind of morals where they claim "yes, everything is destroyed but in a few decades everything will be fine" since I always felt like there was an unspoken "of course that does diddly-squat for us who make our living on the destroyed resource and we're shown to be wholly dependant on it so you should probably assume we went hungry/bankrupt/some other issue" that writers wanted me to ignore and never actually left me with a feeling of resolution and just brought me anxiety since all I could imagine was how it all went wrong for the characters since they're typically never seen again. I was a...pesemistic child. Also, when you made the palette-swapped Deliah joke, Suede, I had a sudden Eureka moment of Pallet Town being a clever reference to a painter's palette, hence the game protagonist names (Red & Blue) being colors and was feeling very proud of my cleverness. Then I realized I'd hardly be the first to make that connection. THEN I went to Bulbapedia and realized Pallet Town was spelled pallet (as in a bed or mattress) and not palette (a thin board or slab on which an artist lays and mixes colors) and thus my theory is probably a wash. Oh well. I at least learned a TON about grapefruit I never thought I'd know!

Suede there you have to make a joke with Tracey and James about having Pokemon with the Move Sleep Power

Okay this is a case where the manga adaptation (BTW for the Orange Island 4 issues it was "Surf's Up Pikachu") is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy better then the anime. First off in the manga it was clarified this was not just an average Snorlax it was a super powerful Snorlax with a demon stomach. Like you think in the end card it just charging away is freaky? In the manga it doesn't swim to another island it JUMPS TO ANOTHER ISLAND because it is just that powerful. And you also see that in the battle Ash has which is actually portrayed a lot more viciously. Okay Ash still uses mostly just Pikachu and Bulbasaur but they actually really do attack back and Snorlax doesn't lightly headbutt he freaking owns them which if it weren't just for them being portrayed as goofy slapstick would of likely done some major damage. Plus you don't have Misty and Tracey uselessly tagging along offering the occassional bits of dialogue. You do still get Ruby/Pamela popping up but she is actually portrayed as more vicious in the opening before going out and out crazy trying to get Snorlax back to sleep. And yeah in the manga Jigglypuff's appearance is more random (even if it is still played as a joke) especially since in the manga it isn't really a running gag but honestly the rest does work a lot better and makes me remember this from the manga much more then the anime which yeah seems to at least be trying more here but again Manga did it better. Though honestly Ash does at least actually use Snorlax a fair amount of times throughout the time he has the creature so good on them for that. Also good on Suede for remembering continuity of episodes before better then these writers do. Which I'm sure will continue next time with more repeat Pokemon though in a plot probably not as good as the last time we really saw these guys.

i am convinced the "special something" that made crops grow again refers to Snorlax manure. Think about it- considering how much it eats it could probably produce enough to fertilize a dozen islands!

I'd say it could be Snorlax spitting out the seeds. But we never see it do that ever so who knows.

It's a bit of a missed opportunity that snorlax can't learn bullet seed but oh well.

The first time I saw this episode I actually ran around screaming "mom, he caught Snorlax!" Snorlax is my favorite normal type.

Why not both? Some kinds of plants have adapted so animals are the main method for how their seeds spread out. Fruits and berries are the biggest examples, then there are the kinds with spines or hooks that get caught in fur. Plantlife would probably adapt to Pokemon in a similar way, and a Snorlax seems like efficient way to spread since it can swim to new islands and its always traveling to find a new source of food.

This to me is the quintessential episode of Pokémon. Ash and friends arrive in a new place, a new Pokémon is causing a high-stakes problem, Team Rocket gets in the way before blasting off again, Jigglypuff shows up to put everyone asleep, *Ash catches a Pokémon!!!*, and there is a feel-good moral to send them off on their way. If I am in the mood to watch an episode of Pokémon, this is often one I’ll pick. It’s got everything you could want in an episode.

I legit had to pause the episode at the shiny Delia comment, i was laughing so hard. Also, that stinger was exactly what I was imagining when Snorlax was squishing everyone XD Awesome job once again, Suede, thank you!
