A self-taught futurist imagines a utopian world with no money, war, scarcity or property. Jacque Fresco considered himself beyond capitalism and communism, relying on technology, science, and resource management to create a perfect, cybernetically enhanced world. He was also pretty horny and claimed to have changed the minds of several Ku Klux Klan members about race. His ideas ended up being showcased at the United Nations.

I’m Team Jake on this one. Julian needs to calm tf down. Yes he didn’t have any concrete ideas on how to actually get his utopia off the ground. But seems like his main message the whole time was basically “hey scientists and engineers, how about u use your brains to actually help the world instead of figuring out the best ways to help old men maintain erections and whatnot?” I was expecting some seedy shit to come to light that I never knew about… but really it just ended up being Julian getting butthurt about reverb. And btw, as far as I know.. it’s pronounced REE-verb.. not reh-VERB. Tsk tsk …But yeah those excerpts from his sci-fi novel were absolutely hilarious

I appreciate Jacque's enthusiasm but I'm with Travis here. "Ah I've come up with a fantastic future city which will meet all needs and has to be built from the ground up. Now for the simple task of convincing everyone on earth to leave behind their homes so we can get started. Also every world government will have to agree to building the World Train. We can figure the rest out on the way"

Blake

When do I disagree with this guy. Mostly kidding

Emmer Effer

I agree, a better world simply isn't possible and we shouldn't waste time imagining one

Can't wait for Tavis to do a Zeitgheist episode. If you want a taster of some good debunking for it, Dr Miano on World of Antiquity (YouTube) actually spoke to the creator about why his Jesus myth stuff was totally manufactured.

Anonymous

As opposed to the very real, true and factual story from the Bible. 😇

Oh sorry I should have been clearer. I meant that the narrative in Zeitgheist is that the figure of Jesus and his crucification and resurrection is reflected in countless other mythological figures around the world from all different times. Miano only debunks this 'mirroring', nothing about the historicity of Jesus himself.

plz do the zeitgeist episode... it was THE pill of my generation (born late 80s/early 90s) in europe. took a lot of my friends down the rabbit hole.

Miss Behavior

I laughed so hard when I got to the holographic moon-nutting that I almost had to pull over.

Ross Billman

Oh Zeitgeist! Please do an ep on them.

holy fuck this man just has the worst case of “covert fetish” and that fetish being mind breaking

Ian Story

All Watched Over By Machines of Loving Grace by Brautigan seems particularly appropriate here.

I would be very happy to see an episode on whatever that 2007 conspiracy theory / techno utopian thing was. I remember as a teenager at socialist rallies having people more interested in that horseshit than what I was hocking and it was quite depressing.
