I do not know, from a historical and linguistic point of view, whether I interpret the word correctly, but in essence I don’t care. For me, the word "naked" or the alternative form "nakid" is a descendant of the words "near kid", which means "almost a child." We come to this world naked and for some time do not need clothes. Then, society tames us, giving us some benefits in exchange for following his rules. This is of course good, the rules improve society, make it safe and predictable. But some rules must change with the way society matures. This is especially true of the rules of morality. Despite the fact that these questions are the simplest, they change wery slowly.

I believe that in our world nudity has become so accessible that it has already ceased to be something shocking. Nudity (especially female) surrounds us everywhere. Internet, TV, games and even in reality. Go to any beach, and almost always you will meet at least one woman tanning topless. Most swimsuits are purely formal and do not hide the body at all. Therefore, we need to stop being afraid of nakedness, stop being afraid of our nature. And take one  more step, after which the bikini or thong will remain lying on the beach, and you will swim in a birthday suit.

But for this we will have to be honest with ourselves and stop perceiving nudity as an attribute of sexual behavior. I would like everyone to get used to nudity so much that they would completely stop distinguishing between dressed and naked people. As it happens in relation to animals or very young children. Their nudity is invisible to us because it is very ordinary and is not associated with sex.

And I believe that "nakid" = "near kid"

What do you say?

As a nudist since my 20s, I couldn't agree more. 👍

Also in french nu come from a latin word taht meant teh same, also meant bare/stark. WIthout artifice. And In breton (could vary from local dialect) it is Nake So I would go more toward the nog theory than teh enar kid theory.

I still hope that the closeness to each other is in the souls of loving people, and not in the bodies.

I did not speak here about the origin of the word, but rather about its further post-analysis. The way I perceive it

Why naked? I would say, and why not? "As it happens in relation to animals or very young children. Their nudity is invisible to us because it is very ordinary and is not associated with sex." I would agree on that as long as the material is not for arousing purposes, like for example a photo of someone on the beach, or a wolf in the wildness. When I do a drawing of someone on the beach reading a book with sunglasses usually is not for arousing purposes (althoug there are all kind of naughty minds out there). But if you do a woman naked mild wet, with a naughty look or just stressing out or touching her body... Well that's arousing or provocative. (Usually mammals have other ways to courtship their partner, by shown of strengh, pheromones, or just doing weird rituals). Real problem is, if we censor nudity or naughty thoughts, people will find other ways to get out that stress, and that's not usually a good thing. (Japan is the most pervert country in the world and the one with less sexual bad behaviour.. although some hentai is... kinda...) Sorry for the long comment! :P

In the animal kingdom the male is the flamboyant one, the one that struts around gathering attention for courtship and to draw predators away from his mate and/or family who visually blend in their surroundings, becoming invisible to predators! In our society it is the female who garners the views and draws the most attention in the room! I’m of the opinion that we got it right, thank you Anya for not disappearing into the background when you are nakid ;P
