Honestly I can imagine a option in which MC and Baxter just go to sleep in the living room as well XD I won't deny that maybe it's just as you said but I'm fantasizing (sorry if wrong) that maybe after they were done with the cake MC decided to just stay there for the night or maybe (hopefully) Baxter asked for you to stay there for the night since it was late and ended up watching something on TV, properly talk or anything else then fell asleep in the living room. That's just my mind creating scenarios with Baxter to be honest so I am fully aware it could be exactly as you said but a man can dream XD
