Our Life: Beta Build 0.39! (Patreon)

The monthly Our Life beta update is live! Now, this is a lot earlier than usual and, unlike other betas, this one doesn't have a brand new Moment or expand further past where the last one left off. This beta is exclusively improving/expanding on the content that was already there.

The amount of changes is large, but that is still strange. If we had until the end of February we could've added another Step 1 Moment to the build. There is a reason for why it's coming out near the start of the month instead of the end, though.

We'll be making a post about what's happening in just a couple days. I think you guys will be pretty pleased. March shouldn't disappoint when it comes to content, haha.

New Content: 

• The fancy character creation screen has replaced the old simple version!
• 13-year-old Cove now has a bit of voice acting so you can hear what he sounds like!
• Mom, Mommy, Mr. Holden, and Lizzie all have a bit of voice acting as well
• Firefly Moment was expanded
• Grownup Moment was expanded
• Shopping Moment was expanded
• Step 1 Ending/Transition to Step 2 was expanded
• One part of the Step 2 intro was expanded
• A brand new song was added into various events
• The errors reported from last time are fixed

Known Issues: 

• Saves from the old beta or the public demo will have errors if used with the new version. Please start a brand new file. 
• The choices you make in the new Barbecue event won't impact Cove in Step 2 yet
• It wasn't possible to properly lock the Ghost or Runaway Moments on the Moment Select Screen, so we added a little warning not to click those buttons for now
• If you use the scroll back/page up button it may cause a character sprite to display incorrectly for a bit
• The tutorial/game explanation sections are pretty out-dated at this point. They need to be rewritten.
• Clicking on the Runaway or Ghost options on the Moment Select Screen won't do anything because they haven't been added yet

When it comes to the new character creation screen, there are three pages. Pages one and two change the little doll that's shown on screen and the things you choose are referenced in the text of the game. Page three covers details that are only mentioned in the script, they don't show on the doll at all. There aren't really a lot of references to the MC's appearance yet. We're gonna keep working on getting those added now that the new screen is working. It's still pretty fun to play around with, though.
