So first of all, Cheese & Pickle sandwiches are not what you think they are! I saw RJ's face at the thought of that one haha. The "pickle" in this case is a sweet and vinegary fruit chutney, that goes really well with a sharp cheddar. The Simpsons get a lot of credit for predicting the future, but in this instance it was Torchwood. About 5 years after this episode came out there was the "Horsemeat Scandal" in the UK. Horsemeat had been identified in frozen meals such as burger patties, lasagna, etc. There was a major recall and serious infractions were identified in the food manufacturing industry in Europe. As for this episode, and the relationships.... Before joining Torchwood, Rhys and Gwen were very much in love, and it's implied monogamous. Right from the start, the rest of team imply that her relationship probably won't last long, and there's a reason they are all single. In this episode at the start, Tosh and Owen are discussing how impossible it is to hold down a relationship when you can't tell anyone what you do. Gwen did also admit in season 1 that's why she slept with Owen, because sharing the bad and stressful moments of her day gave them a connection that she was losing with Rhys. Now that she can talk to Rhys, I'd hope that she can redevelop that relationship with him, and stop cheating on him both physically and emotionally. As for Tosh, it did definitely feel like it was forced in this episode, but it's not completely left field. In season 1 she was really jealous of Gwen when she found out she slept with Owen. They did build up a potential storyline of Tosh being attracted to Owen, but then they kind of dropped it, then randomly bring it back up in this episode. Season 2 has a few more surprises that I think you'll enjoy.
