Going to fight a magical dragon in an open terrain?
In hindsight you really could have planned this a bit better.
To expect the beast to be honorable and even face you in fair combat is already a bit of a stretch.
Lucky for you it chose to go with a more magical kind of a fire breath.
And I guess the journey to slay the beast wasn't a total failure.
Yes you didn't kill the dragon, but you did get a nice body out of it along with a new permanent home.
