The Yashamoto Storyline - Shura (Patreon)

Shura is a country in the world of Zacamir, located in the southwestern part of the world.

Legends say that 700 years ago, there once roamed a dragon within these lands that had come from the west, seeking solitude away from 'those of its own kind'. Said dragon was a fierce being that ate the very magic that lingered in the air. The legend continues however, with a "Princess of the Moon" pleading for mercy for the denizens of this ancient land of Shura.

The princess sang for this dragon, calming its anexieties and wrath with a song so serene it was remembered as the Song of Stars. The woman when finished singing promised the dragon to return the following year to calm it once more. The dragon made a pledge that it would no longer ravage the land, and thus bound its arm to a cherry blossom tree atop the mountain the two of them had met.

 The princess did, however the second year after this promise, the princess was nowhere to be found.

The dragon waited for a year and hatred swelled up in its being. It lashed out, demanding to know how this woman who had sung such beautiful song could betray it like this.

The tree it had bound itself to had grown strong from being in the presence of this dragon, thus the beast had to gnaw its own arm off in order to be free once more.

The dragon went north, now screaming in anguish and malice. It's blood from the severed limb scattered as it flew above. From this blood, the bewildering Urakami was born. Creatures who's existence could never be fully understood.

Thus the land of Shura became a land overspilling with curses, eldritch beings and yokais wandering its planes and preying on the people this dragon cursed 700 years ago.
