Hey everyone. I spent the entire week and weekend of Thanksgiving finishing up a finalized, high-quality trailer of the 3D animation featuring Pacifica, which I had planned to post before December as a surprise for you all... but an unexpected hard drive failure caused me to lose a great deal of progress on that project, as well as the entire Phalia (boob crush) animation I had in the works, and also half of my artistic asset collection (3D models, sound effects, etc).

I'd hoped to simply recover what I'd lost and move on, without having to worry or disappoint anyone, but I don't think that will happen. I spent several days trying to recover the data on my own, to no avail. Last week I sent the hard drive to a data recovery specialist, but so far the likelihood of recovering what I lost seems very low.

I apologize for the bad news, and the lack of recent animation updates. I'd hoped to be far more consistent with those. I was incredibly excited to share my progress with you all, so needless to say I am feeling more than a little demoralized right now.

The good news is that I do have an older backup of the Pacifica animation and the unfinalized trailer, so I didn't lose everything, but about 30-50 hours of hard work is gone. I'm planning to redo all the work I lost, but it will take some time before I get to where I was before the loss.

For now, I have a question for all my supporters. Would you rather:

  • See the unfinished trailer now, in it's current state (with full audio but not much polish)?
  • Wait to see the final, high-quality trailer only after I've finished what I lost? This might mean multiple weeks of delay.

Please vote below (and don't forget to leave a comment if you're a $10 supporter, to make your vote count extra). Note that I will likely only release the trailer to patrons, because I don't want it being shared around just yet, before I polish the animation to my own quality standards.

Also, I will say that I've learned my lesson, and will be keeping much more rigorous backups (and backup-backups) of my projects from now on. So hopefully this will never happen again, and I can get back into a more productive work cycle again soon.

Thank you all for your patience and support.

I'm sorry to hear about your data loss. It's one of the worst things that can happen when your work is tied to digital storage. Take your time getting things back to where you want them to be, and pace yourself. Your work is always excellent, and I don't mind waiting if it means you'll get to be alright~

That’s terrible to hear I was figuring the slow down on the updates was due to the holiday season. I hope they are able to recover all of the info from your hardcore for you. Will you still do the Phalia animation?

I had no backups of the Phalia animation (stupid of me, I know) so unless I can recover something, I'm not sure I'll redo it any time soon. I will post the unreleased footage I have from that animation, but otherwise I'd probably prefer to do something else (but similar!) rather than going through the demoralizing process of starting the exact same project over entirely from scratch.
