Plenty of comments already articulate my feelings on the content of the episode, so I do not need to contribute there. The plot points and foreshadowing was not nuanced and felt like an anvil. However, the set design was really on point and clearly the stand out element in this episode. A true showcase IMO. Perhaps that was the point...? I feel similarly with the writing and the directing choices as well - as if this was a safe episode to allow those with less experience to experiment and get the credit on their resume/highlight reel.

I love this show, the characters, their relationships and I can only get through this season as more of an obligation to see the specks where they shine minus the storylines that got phoned in for 15. Bad parallel attempts with MOTW, it only detracted and removed growth in the final season, the flip flops over trusting Death and her book macguffins were overkill. And I stopped trying to figure out Jack's relationship status with the 3 dads since it teeters by episode or scene. So after the big 'secret' of Jack's suicide run being shared where they all revert back to their respective character development selves back a few seasons...we see slivers of opposing sides of their feelings but "there must be another way" to kill GOD without him knowing as well as Death or the Empty catching on that plans change? Why not? We didn't have enough storylines this season... How many times can they look through the damn lore/angel and demon tablets/pop down to hell/hit the sandbox to heaven/call and potentially ruin prophet's life/scour the book of the dead/call rando shaman with contrived spare arch angel grace/etc. Anyone recall that it used to Sam who had the temper issue?
