Dyrla

The actor playing Giyera is Mark Dacascos and for the longest time I thought I knew him but not from where. It was only later that I realised he was The Chairman on the Food Network show Iron Chef America (I used to live in LA and my wife was a great Food Network fan) but I hadnt put 2 and 2 together as they were so different roles! Great episode, and it just goes to show that all FitzSimmons needed to do was kiss to figure out the whole Hydra/NASA/Inhuman connection.

Such a good episode! Without fail (or at least I can't think of anything off the top of my head), if ever you think a storyline is pointless or unrelated to the main one, think again lol. Could there have been a different path than a love triangle? Probably. But unlike most love triangles, this one is both understandable — as Fitz said, Will's a genuinely good guy and they gave each other hope in a hopeless situation — and does serve a greater purpose by feeding into the larger plot. Not to mention the mission to rescue Will isn't just a Simmons-wants-her-guy-back, it's the right thing to do. They'd want to rescue anyone who was stranded there. So while it does function as an obstacle in the FitzSimmons story, it's not *only* that. Equally, I love love love that there's no toxicity. While Fitz is naturally upset with the situation, neither he nor the narrative blames Simmons or acts like she did something wrong. There's no pettiness or passive aggressiveness involved. So refreshing. The expansion of Hydra lore was great. It adds interest and also helps explain their cockroach habit of never going away. They're not just a Nazi-funded offshoot or turncloak SHIELD agents, they're an incredibly old organization that has a supernatural goal they've been working towards that most people don't know about. Oh, Ward. He's such a thorn in the side but really entertaining. Brett Dalton looks like he's having such a blast playing him!

So agree with everything you’ve said here, but you’ve especially enlightened to me why I’ve never minded this love triangle, whereas usually I dislike them pretty strongly in other shows - it is absolutely the lack of toxicity and pettiness, the fact that they actually behave like adults, whilst still expressing how they honestly feel. I wish more shows took this route if they feel they have to include a love triangle!
