The dolma is iconic!!! Colin killed it 👏, love this episode

There’s a reason that the Dolma appears in almost every Merlin compilation there is online - she’s incredible! You’re so right, this episode is a delight. This episode is overall just packed with great moments and scenes for me. The opening is quite shockingly subversive for Merlin - we think we’re just seeing another samey scene of Morgana and Gwen scheming, until it’s revealed that Merlin is just straight up going for it and showing Arthur. Yes Merlin! Those scenes earlier on between Mordred and Merlin are so great, so filled with tension and uncertainty. It’s weird to see Merlin being *so* closed off and mistrusting. He’s lost a lot of that youthful openness and always trying to see the good in people. Also loved that showdown between Mordred and Morgana. What a great conversation between them. I love that Mordred still has compassion for Morgana, and wants her to find peace. He actually reminds me of a younger Merlin, before he became so weary and jaded! And you’re also so right that the scene where Gwen is brought back is really lovely. The callback to ‘With all my heart’ is a great one, and it’s a lovely phrase. Angel did a great job at being so superior and snide at first and then becoming the old Gwen. And yes, Colin’s performance is absolutely *genius*. So funny, so brilliant. Not many actors could do that so well. I will never shut up about just how good he is throughout the show. As flawed as this show is, his performance as Merlin never fails to be fantastic, and episodes like these particularly highlight it. His mannerisms and line readings of the Dolma’s lines are just .. perfection. Thank you for another great reaction!
