If you think about what Dean did… he did that for a couple reasons.. well one was that he left him knocked out handcuffed in the hotel to go kill his best friend for no reason with stupid ass Martin who was more of a monster than anybody here… but Dean woke up and didn’t know how long ago they left.. he called Benny right away and told him to leave bc Martin and Sam were coming to kill him… Benny isn’t scared of Sam and Martin … so trying to get Benny to leave when it’s his home town and his granddaughter lives there where vamps are killing innocents to get his attention… wasnt happening… so Benny Vs Sam and Martin face off could’ve happened and both Benny and Sam could end up dead. His last resort was the one thing he knew Sam would leave for. Yeh it’s fucked up for sure… but after he had creepy Martin following Benny behind deans back is just fucked up… especially bc Martin is crazy.. he’s not a good hunter and he’s like flighty… then Sam ditched Dean to kill his best friend .. so I’m having a hard time feeling bad for him. Don’t think Dean thought that Sam would relate that message to like his mom and Jess dying… but she got him out of the life for a year.. it’s the only card he had to keep Benny and Sam from killing each other. It’s absolutely brutal and a below the knees kinda shot… but so was what Sam did.. they were both wrong in different ways.

Sam admits he had crazy Martin track Benny because “no hunter worth his salt” would let a vampire go. Sorry, but YOU did so twice Sam! Not even dragging Amy into it, but in season 2, it was Lenore and again in season 6 (before Cass stepped in) even after she admitted to killing a little girl. And that same old dead horse beating, but didn’t you just take a year off hunting, tossed the phones, etc….never mind looking for your brother or helping Kevin? But of all the monsters you’ve ignored – this vampire simply must be tracked? And ya know...Sam and Benny actually have a lot in common (beyond their literal experience with drinking blood). Both have struggled against their nature, shut off their humanity and killed, yet both have fought to be better than that. Sam left an unconscious Dean handcuffed to go kill Benny so they both SUCKED at being communicative brothers. I'll never be able to understand how the writing can justify an emergency text message that scares him so much about Amelia that he drives hours instead of calling her and then creeps around the house to peek into the window. It's like a bad soap opera after the husband returned from the dead - super cheesy!
