You only briefly touched on it, but I'm glad you noted that Bertholdt 'forgot who his friends were'. A lot of reactors thought he was begging for mercy. He just came back from being unconscious, so his brain wasn't fully recognizing the events that had just transpired. But he does realize that he's about to be eaten alive and looks instinctively for help. Whereupon he sees his 'friends'. You can see the smile of hope on his face, because he knows his friends, at least he thought they were, would save him. However, in his final moments his eyes widen as he realises what's going on and he then calls out for the people he knows are the one's on his side, Reiner and Annie. Sigh...I know it's a win for 'our team', but I'm equally saddened by the death of Bertholdt as for Erwin. I could go on for hours about why my boy deserved better, but I'll stop here :{ Great reaction!
