I think, apart from rain, there are quite a few changes which would be good to get to public builds, so here is a release candidate of an upcoming update, please give it a try if possible. No rain here yet, just a few other things. Here is a full changelog. As you can see, with all those fixes alone, it’s really the time to release it.

If performance with dynamic shadows would get a bit too bad, don’t worry, in actual update I’ll add more options:

Just try a car like Abarth 500 with new car stereo or GT86 with navigator and Spotify desktop client running in background, and change a track or something like that, it should show that. I’d use API to monitor currently playing track so it would work with web player, but unfortunately they have rate limits which are way too strict for that. Apparently there is some API they added for Discord, but it’s not for public use. So, yeah, it just looks for the name of the window as many similar apps do :D

I think so. If you want rain back reinstall the previous build

Hi Ilja. With this build (and the previous previews with rain), app settings such as FFB levels won't save new values after being altered. If I roll back to 0.1.61, everything works as expected. Cheers :-)

The dynamic shadows don't seem to work with most tracks, even Kunos ones like Zandvoort, Monza, and Imola

Hey Ilja. This is an incredible feature. It reminds me of something else I thought this game would really benefit from. Is it possible to add some sort of ambient occlusion to the game? A stronger AO effect so that building and props look more connected. Sorry if this is a stupid question. You're doing an incredible job, thanks :)

Hey Ilja, Lovely work on Driver Tags, I'm currently running a league and would like to use it in our broadcasts but not all the flags from AC are present. Could I add these on my own? How?

Nice job ! But Preview 19 give me just statics water particules, no rain and no wipers are working. Used the preview 15, wipers worked but no more water particules or rain whaterever used weather. Using lastest Sol 1.6.2 realease. Any idea ?

Read the post carefully... Ilja said that Preview19 has NO rain, it is a testing ground for other things.

Yeah, spot lights on most of them are too wide for shadows to work properly, so they would require to adjust configs. Or range is too short for shadows to get enabled automatically. I'll adjust those default values

Hey, unfortunately not, they’re pretty hardcoded to speed things up, with atlases and everything. I see that seven flags are missing, including placeholder one, I’ll add them, thank you :)

I’ll try to add that a bit later, might take some time though (since it’s not just about hiding the model, but also, lights attached to it and so on)

Hey when I'm in the weather fx python ap and go in the rain section and into debug drops, I don't get any sliders have I installed it wrong? How do i get the sliders to actually make it rain work? My linked option is also missing.

Hi! If we can give suggestions, here I go - it would be nice to have the option to open the car doors and turn on/off the windshield wipers in the new photo mode, too. I use the Shaders extension dubbug to do it... works, but... you know :D Also, a question was made in a forum that I am a subscriber of and it sounded relevant: "could we turn off the "original" shadows and run the CSP ones alone"? Thanks.

I noticed that the reflections of the car with a wet track do not work with the triple monitor, instead in single they work well

Ilja, yesterday experimenting with the new shadows I came with the idea to use Light Maker app to fully exploit dynamic shadows for photography but the more I experimented the more I realized that reflections are sorta off. And is there a step by step tutorial available cause I can't for the life of me get it to work... the ACC ext rain app is nowhere to be found, even after 2 complete reinstalls.

open content manager > settings > content manager > general > app key

Make sure you are putting the shaders light patch downloaded here in your AC mods folder and enabling it in Content Manger in the content > mods section

Well something happened I just don't know what... the rain was static but flashing... still no ext rain app...

In this specific version there is no rain. lights-patch-v0.1.62-preview15-full has rain, lights-patch-v0.1.62-preview19-full does not. Download the new shaders lights patch up above and try that. When you get in game, open up both the SOL weather config and the WeatherFX debug app and play around with forcing rain/rain debug. Also make sure in settings > WeatherFX that it checked active in CM

Oh, yes, it’s one of biggest questions we got so far, really strange stuff. While car paint materials look reasonably well during the day, and values make sense, at night, they look really bad. Still can’t figure out why though, one thought I have is that it happens because AC’s rendering is not gamma-corrected the right way. Going to try and fix that a bit later. Light Maker though just makes a regular light source, no difference from the one on a track. Very sorry for the late response.

Yes, hopefully it’ll change in the future, but for now reflections rely purely on SSLR, which is a part of Extra FX that doesn’t work with anything other than single screen. I’m going to try and add some simpler alternative solution for triple and VR

Great idea, thank you, I’ll add those options! As for the question, do you mean disabling sun shadows and only using dynamic shadows from dynamic lights? I believe that should work, there is a `main_fs_noshadow` shader set without sun shadows, but with dynamic shadows. Or, if the idea is to replace original sun shadows with those dynamic ones, I don’t think it would work, and not just because sun shadows use cascades. Main issue is the algorithm itself, it’s a very unusual for me solution I’m still trying to wrap my head around (mainly, how could somebody come up with it). If you want, please DM me and I’ll explain in detail, but to put it in a few words, that algorithm used by dynamic shadows, although allows for smoother and more stable shadows and quite a lot faster to apply, can only work on a short range, or it would produce a lot of light leakage. You can see it already with those dynamic shadows here and there, shadows starting not right after an object, but after some extra distance. And that is with shadows with range of about 30m on average. Sun shadows would require the range in kilometers, so unless I’m missing something, that shadow detachment would be massive. I cannot run this update at all. CM crashes 100% of time, all cars, all tracks all types of weather.
