To explain the name thing with captain marvel, DC sued the OG publisher of capt. marvel for creating superman knockoff, and bought them out. Then basically did nothing with the character and let copyright expire and marvel created their captain marvel and copyrighted the name, then dc's version started getting popular again. So now dc cant sell stuff with captain marvel name but he can still be called it.
