Happy Saturday and Happy 4th to those who celebrate - wherever you are in the world, I hope you’re safe.

I didn’t plan on doing anything today besides watching art courses (thank you Jasken 🥺), but I ended up wanting to draw! While catching up with folks I got to chat with Opti, who runs the WildeHopps calendar project, and asked if his roster still had space for the 2021Wildehopps calendar (June). Time to try new things! I asked that any proceeds not be given to me; I just want to do something fun with the other community artists! I’ll share the full piece publicly later in the year. I like my Wildehopps to be delightfully ambiguous, so this one isn’t too gushy (do not look at the rock formation in the distance XD). I just wanted the two to hang out at the beach and enjoy each other’s company. That’s my favorite flavour Wildehopps ☕️.

Art Notes

I’m hoping I can improve my illustration skills with this one (particular the shading and details). I’m really inspired by Relaxable’s work because of how much detail she puts in the environments, fur, lighting, everything! So I’ll try to put more effort into the details while pacing myself (like Magitron said). I’m not quite ready to go back to the PC so this is being done on the iPad in Procreate, which is also why I’m able to turn around a timelapse video. Clouds might be moved around to make it less right-heavy; kinda wanna add a blanket, but I’m not sure I can do it right. We’ll see! REALLY trying to avoid Resting Nick Face™ here.

Patronage Update

Mahalo plenty for last June’s contribution, guys 🙏. I’ve used a portion of it for my ToonBoom license and another portion to hold for CGMA courses. Last May’s patronage helped me take that course on 2D composition and even though I lost a month to follow up, I’m gonna keep trying to learn. I have a feeling this fall/winter I’ll have time to invest in classes.
