Author's Note: Tier Changes Coming In The New Year (Patreon)
Content
A bit ago I posted about wanting to change how tiers work. Specifically, I want to remove the fact that there are story specific tiers. As I noted then, THIS WILL NOT CHANGE HOW YOUR CURRENT TIER WORKS. Come January 1st the current $5 tiers will be unpublished and a new $5 tier will take their place. If you are current subbed to one of the $5 tiers, you will continue to be subbed to them and keep getting everything you should. Besides that, the $1, $3, and $8 tiers are not changing at all. It is only the $5 tiers that will change. The new $5 tier will have a slower release speed, with NR going down to an extra chapter every other week and D'sP to an extra chapter every third week. This means the $5 tier will still be ahead of RR and SH by over 150 chapters for NR and over 70 chapters for D'sP.
Looking back and at how other people handle their Patreons, I'm actually a bit insane for how I set things up anyway. Everyone else just has tiers that are a certain number of chapters ahead. Over both my main stories I am hundreds of chapters ahead and that will only grow. And honestly, no matter what any main story I write will likely end up a massive number of chapters ahead. That's just kind of how I roll. However, my smaller stories will definitely be more traditional. This can be seen with Banished Talent. My current goal is for each step up in tier to be a couple more chapters, though I do not have this backlog yet for that story. Partly because of some stress I'm under.
Speaking of which, that stress mostly stems from a few weeks ago. You might remember my post about getting hurt and into trouble. The problem isn't either of those (the injury stuff has basically all cleared up), but rather the fact the other shoe hasn't dropped yet. I was supposed to get something in the mail a week ago. It has not arrived. In communicating with the people that were supposed to send it, well, they're not finding me in their database. So yeah, kind of stressed over that. On one hand, I'm perfectly fine if things go away. On the other, I want closure and having something that may or may not show up in the mail, or worse, should have shown up in the mail, is the farthest thing from closure possible.
However, I'm going to burn what few vacation hours I have left for this year and hopefully that will help. After all, my company goes with the "use it or lose it" method of vacation time. Kind of ironic though, I save as many hours as I can for the end of the year because that is when I get the most bang for my buck as I will have gotten any raises coming my way. Yet in doing so, I end up taking time off during the most busy time of the year.
