A Very Urgent Announcement (Patreon)

Hi everyone,

I have some uncomfortable news to share. I have now had multiple attempts to pinpoint my precise location based on some of the content I have shared.

I understand that none of you have bad intentions. As a community you have proven over and over again to care about me and my wellbeing. I hope I have properly expressed my gratitude for the love and support you show me. I’m not afraid for my personal safety — I think I’ve established that I can take care of myself. But the unfortunate reality is that some of the videos I’ve shared may possibly identify the locations of my friends or family members (some of my car repair videos, for example, were filmed in a friend’s driveway), and I hate to think that I’ve put their privacy at risk. However, even if the motivation behind anyone digging into “clues” I’ve dropped is just curiosity, or some goal to show me how vulnerable I’ve made myself, let me be very clear:

This is an invasion of privacy.

I’m not punishing anyone. This is not an invitation for any of you to take out your pitchforks and identify the offenders. But as much as I wish I could blow this off, I do need to take a stand for my right to privacy and do what I think is necessary to protect that. I need to be more careful about what I share. I have removed some of my past content that I feel puts my privacy, or the privacy of any of my friends at risk. This includes any videos or photos that show any identifiable locations, which is unfortunate because I know those were popular here. If you notice that I’m being more private in the future, I hope you can understand that all I’m doing is looking out for myself, my friends, and my family.

Because I care about all of you I might as well take this as an opportunity to remind YOU to keep yourself safe, too. The internet is a very dangerous place and you never know who is going to do what with the personal information you share. I’m all for us connecting and supporting one another and building a little online family, but please be safe.
