Back in 2016, BTS made history by being the second non-big 3 group to win the "Daesang" artist of the year award at the Mnet Asian Music Awards.

This was huge moment for BTS and marked the beginning of an era, not only for BTS but for all of K-pop, since BTS would go on to receive many such awards going forward, further cementing to people that "you didn't have to be from one the big three companies to receive this level of acclaim"

Valen was at the time already a huge BTS army member and stayed glued to the screen all night in Colombia watching the amazing show but Theo on the other hand knew very little about K-pop back then.
