SHINee's album '1 of 1' truly is "1 of 1" in its ability to continue to surprise us with timeless classic after timeless classic.

All in all, culminating into an album that would have fit perfectly into the contemporary K-pop music industry if released in 2024.

If you think THIS album was an experience, just wait till you check out the Odd album and the Misconception albums... SHINee are ALWAYS ahead of their time, almost every time they released something everyone else followed after, they introduced several music genres into k-pop. A lot of SHINee's music is timeless. I would actually say the same for Taemin's solo music.

Well as much as I love their older albums they definitely didn't age as well as 1 of 1 or Odd did, and yeah I was contemplating real hard choosing between these two haha. The Misconception series were great back then and still are great live but the studio version sounds way more dated and of the time. It's a fact many if not most of their epic and grandiose live performances come from songs on the Misconceptions, so I would be leaning towards recommending experience them through live setting rather than an album listen (tho that might be interesting too). 1 of 1 is 1 of (no pun intended lol) the best critically acclaimed albums, and not just SHINee's but overall in all of Kpop which is for a reason, so the experience was to be expected that is why I recommended it as a good starting point. Anyhow, they should for sure check out Odd/Married To The Music album next though. Speaking of SHINee's solos, I'd say Jonghyun's music is even more timeless than Taemin's, just by how mature, different and unique it is, more than anything else found in Kpop - it transcends it.

Ayeee a 9.1 !?! leggoo!!! :D that's probably the highest overall I saw you give an album yet (at least from the ones I've watched) which adds to the testament and reputation that this album has. I'm glad you liked it that much but now it's gonna be hard to top it as the bar is set pretty high haha. Though if anyone can do it, it's SHINee. Most of their other albums are great too, including their solo albums which is crazy to think about. 6:29 - actually a lot of their songs have some shine, shining or light related lyrics/references including the title and most other songs on this album, good catch! :D View also had UK garage influences and it was released in 2015. 9:56 SHINee literally debuted as 'contemporary R&B group' they have since moved away from solely R&B (their first few albums were heavy on R&B) but they were always contemporary as that's a part of their concept/style. They were also an experimental group, not necessarily in a way as we know it now (like making crazy fusion songs with change-ups or anything) but SM would be basically using them to try out all sorts of different and often new things as in sounds and styles that not necessarily alligned with what the others were doing at the time, which in turn resulted in them introducing many new genres into Kpop and starting many trends. Of course they do have some more 'experimental' tracks, few of them being Don't Stop and U Need Me on this album :D the latter is probably one of their most experimental ones ever, and usually it's their B-sides that are more on the crazy side rather than the titles (with few exceptions). 18:10 it seems like you didn't vibe with Feel Good as much comparatively, which is totally fine but it's one of my personal favorite tracks on the whole album, like top 3 or top 5 for sure. Which would be: Feel Good, Shift, Don't Let Me Go, 1 of 1, Prism. So we primarily agree on the others haha. 23:40 Korean title of Don't Let Me Go actually means Transparent Umbrella! So that rain at the end and the vibe is very much a fitting stylistic choice. I love this song ughh :')) 37:27 SHIFT IS THE BOP! and YESSS funny you brought up View because Shift was literally produced by same producers: LDN Noise primarily + Adrian McKinnon, and yes it's drawing from similar genres deep house/UK garage, sound-wise it was sort of a continuation to View. Also, sadly they never performed it live :// there's only a Key solo version, but it would definitely be amazing seeing them all perform it. 44:50 a lot of SHINee's stuff is sort of MJ inspired, and especially this album because of this retro/vintage concept that they were going for it is clear that Jonghyun was choosing to sing like that stylistically, he could actually do a really accurate MJ impersonation (for your interest: https://youtu.be/kSR_lIVN-Uc) :D his voice control is like no other so he could basically do any sort of sound as a stylistic choice to fit the song. He was inspired by many artists but MJ and Prince were some of the most prominent ones. Likewise, Taemin was heavily inspired by him in the dancing area, and is even often called the Michael Jackson of Korea! 45:55 LMAO U Need Me is cursed!?? Because of the glitching you kinda missed like 2 key changes at the end of the song js :'D 47:25 haha you're welcome!! and yes, my username is a combo of my own name Lawrence - Law and wol from Shawol = Lawol :D that is a big statement being a song you've never heard of before but same, U Need Me is THAT song. 49:54 actually So Amazing is kind of an exception when it comes to SHINee albums because most of their other ones end with a ballad not an upbeat song lol. It's not the flashiest song but it does what it has to do, it's a feel good type of fun track that they usually sing in the more laid back segments where they get to interact with the fans, and the lyrics are literally about that: they're describing touching fingertips and sharing moments with the fans, the green waves refers to lighsticks and pearl aqua which is SHINee's official color! I mentioned to you earlier but it was written by Onew for Shawols :) that's why it's 'special track'. 59:55 Hard is their 8th full studio album, I'd probably recommend that one from their newest releases! Also as mentioned earlier, their 4th studio album Odd (or Married To The Music repackage) is up there with 1 of 1 , it actually has even more different genres and whatnot! Another possibility would be checking out the repackage to 1 of 1 that you left out here which is the '1 and 1' album, as I told you in DM's it's more so a slower song/ballad album though but it has 5 new songs so probably plenty for a separate reaction, or at least definitely check out the title track of that one on YT called 'Tell Me What To Do' which is a gorgeous vocally soaring song (not a ballad unlike most bsides) but dreamy vibes. You could do it together with Dream Girl and 1 of 1 and there are plenty other MV's you haven't checked out yet, like Everybody, Married To The Music, Good Evening, Don't Call Me, Atlantis etc.
