A mysterious world I drew on commission recently! 

One of the Six Remaining Island Domes

In this setting, the sun has been eaten a long time ago by giant whale-like creatures, now called the Lumos. As the sun's light faded away and the Lumos returned to the world, they ripped apart the remaining landmasses and caused the broken pieces of land to float along with them.

After several millennia of this process, strange clouds appeared on the ocean, and coming into contact with them meant a very painful death. As these clouds reached the islands however, the light of the Lumos caused the clouds to form domes around these islands instead.

After several more millennia passed, a new catastrophe struck. From beneath the ocean's surface, a new type of creature made its way into these cloud domes, the Lighteaters. As the Lighteaters made their way into the domes, many Lumos got killed, their islands sinking along with them. The Lumos that survived this surprise attack are now in a perpetual race, circling their respective domes in order to avoid, but also to hunt, the Lighteaters.

Nowadays only six of these island domes remain, but even their time is limited as the next catastrophe draws near...
